Hey everyone! Welcome back to the CLASSroom and another #TexturalTuesdays with Lisa. I'm excited to show you a fun TEXTURE spray from Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts. It's their IrRESISTible Colored Texture Sprays that I'll be featuring today. And they have loads of texture. Just LOADS.
Here's a little bit more about these sprays from the Ellen Hutson, LLC store:
"IrRESISTible Texture Spray adds fabulous texture and vibrant, fade-resistant color! It can be sprayed, brushed, dabbed or stamped onto porous and nonporous surfaces. Colors are mixable for your own custom hues. Use with water for a unique watercolor effect, or with dye and pigment inks for a high-impact resist effect."
Let's get the card-making going on, shall we?
I used a panel of Ranger water color paper that was pre-cut from a prior project for my card front. I used a low-tack tape to attach this to a piece of hard board. On top of that I attached the beautiful Polygon Stencil from Neat & Tangled and held it down using a bit more low-tack tape (to prevent shifting).
Then I started spraying. This spray did not quite come out in a fine mist (at least for me). So I just rolled with it. I let the spray do whatever it wanted to do. I used the Lilac Posies and Pear Tart with just a bit of the Tuxedo Black in the corners.
Just to intensify the color, I sprayed a bit more. It dries VERY fast. I did notice the ink didn't quite come all out of my stencil, which was a concern. Usually hand sanitizer breaks most permanent inks down quite easily. Lisa's handy-dandy cleaning tip. ;)
Here's how it looks after it's dried and immediately after the stencil is removed.
See the bumps? It's just that shiny and bumpy on the card. I decided at that point to try to tap the ink directly from the bottom of the sprayer tube. I used the Tuxedo Black irRESISTible Texture Spray for this.
The drips and splatters directly from the sprayer tube dried completely 3-dimensional and feel like enamel. I hope that is conveyed in the photo above. VERY cool when used this way! Two thumbs up!!
Using a piece of Bazzill Easter Grass cardstock (trimmed to ¼" less than my card front) I ran this through my Sizzix Big Shot Plus with the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies, Stitches Cover Plate by Julie Ebersole.
Using the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies, Positive Words by Julie Ebersole I die-cut the word "Awesome" FOUR times out of Oreo Cardstock from Taylored Expressions.
I adhered all four die-cuts together very carefully using the matte medium from Ranger. This gives the piece a very nice dimension. Once dry, it was coated with the Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen for a bit of shimmer.
Using the beautiful Mama Elephant Creative Color Pigment Ink in Lollipop I stamped the words "You Are" from the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Totally Awesome by Julie Ebersole onto heavy-weight vellum. The pigment ink was heat set with a clear embossing powder for a bit of extra texture.
The vellum is trimmed to a large banner shape and the die-cut word "Awesome" is adhered to the banner.
The card front panel was trimmed further down and a tiny strip of paper from my stash of bits and pieces was adhered to the left side. I adhered the card front to the green "stitched" panel at a bit of a wonky angle. Then, the vellum banner was wrapped (and attached) at the back of the green panel, and adhered behind the word "Awesome". This was also adhered at a slightly wonky angle.
This card is SO full of texture. From the Stitches Cover Plate, the irRESISTible Texture Sprays, the embossing of the Pigment Ink, the stacking of the cardstock die-cut word...it's a card that's just begging to be touched. It would be a great card done in a variety of colors and stencils.
And, what would one of my posts be without a close-up?
If you're into texture, as I am, this Texture Spray might just be your new BFF. ;)
