Hi everyone! I'm so glad you've stopped by today. It's Carissa here with you today. I'm sharing a fun project featuring the brand new Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel dies.
The Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel die is a fun way to make an interactive card. You can use the reveal wheel to create cards with changing sentiments, or, as I've done today, to create a color changing card. Try decorating the reveal wheel with patterned papers, or stamped images for some more fun options. I can't wait to try all of these different ways to customize this interactive card design.
I'll be using the Sweetest Flavor stamps, dies and reveal wheel window add-on die for my card today. I've linked everything below. I love that Lawn Fawn has several options available to create different looks with the Reveal Wheel. And these small dies and stamps are affordably priced. Always a bonus!
I'll walk you through the creation of this card in the video tutorial below. Be sure you check it out. I'll give you some tips and tricks and show you how easy it is to assemble this interactive card.
The next several photos will give you a peek at the color changing ice cream.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you've enjoyed this project and a look at some of the newest products from Lawn Fawn. Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
XOXO

The "Playful" palette is bright, fun and the perfect way to beat the post-holiday blues! We think it is especially fun for all the thank you cards that need to be sent. Imagine how happy these colors would make your friends & family when they open their mailboxes to find your sweet thank you?! Check out this thank you that Carly created...
To create this card Carly used Distress Oxides to watercolor cardstock. Then she die cut snowflakes with the Lawn Fawn Mini Snowflakes but any snowflake dies or even other shapes would be fantastic.
Carly also die cut a few snowflakes from a A2 white panel and then inlaid the colored snowflakes before adding more flakes on top.
Quick tip...to make assembling the card a breeze, apply Stick It to the back of the watercolored cardstock before die cutting the snowflakes. Then you can apply them to the card front like stickers!
We've compiled a list of these gorgeous colors in many mediums so grab your favorite wintery stamps & dies and see what you can create!
Hi! It's Carly and I'm thrilled to be here for the annual 12 Tags of Christmas! It's day 12 and I'm here with my amazing partner Kelly Marie Alvarez! I've been lucky enough to be partners with Kelly three years in a row and she always wows me with her cute Lawn Fawn creations!
Today we are both bringing you some interactive tags because things that swing, slide, shake and open are just fun!!! I'm a little obsessed with the Lawn Fawn die, Shut The Front Door so I wanted to create a little house tag...
To create my little welcoming party, I used one of my favorite stamping techniques - masking!
On a piece of solar white, I traced around the die just to have an approximation of where my critters should go.
I made masks for all my critters and then stamped away! I included a bunch of my Lawn Fawn favs like the Yeti and Gingerbread man, and also a few Essentials by Ellen loveys, like the All Inside Bear and Bear Ware 2 Kitty.
Then I colored my critters with Copics.
I die cut my door from a panel that I applied Distress Ink Abandoned Coral. Then I used Be Creative tape to adhere my door over my critter panel, trimming off the excess.
My little house is just a rectangle and triangle cut from cardstock and colored with Distress Ink.
We are delighted to have Kelly Marie Alvarez, owner of Lawn Fawn, join us again this year! We adore Kelly's bright, cheerful style and we think she is just the nicest too!!! You can find more of Kelly's adorable creations on the Lawn Fawn blog. And wait until you see Kelly's tag, the bear skates & slides as the tag moves!!! Kelly is a creative genius!
Thank you for joining us once again this year for the twelfth day of our 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist series! Simply leave your appreciation for the beautiful tags of today's dynamic duo, Carly Tee and Kelly Marie, and you will be eligible for the random drawing of the $25 gift certificate to our store www.ellenhutson.com. Leave your comment here before noon on December 18th to be included (one comment per person please.)
Hi everyone! It's Carissa here today. I'm so glad you've stopped by. I have some pretty little packages to share with you today. These particular projects have been designed with a holiday theme (it's not too early to start working on those holiday gifts now). Keep in mind, these gift ideas are great for any occasion. Just change up the patterned paper to make it work for you. I'll show you how to do that below.
Today's little gifts were created by the talented team at Bramble Berry. These handmade Nail Polishes and Iridescent Pearl Bath Bomb are simply adorable. I love the idea that they've been handmade by a different kind of crafter...and now I get to doll them up using paper crafts! The polishes are adorable with fun and sparkly colors. And that bath bomb? To die for! It's got a beautiful iridescent shine all over it. It's sure to have the recipient feeling their inner mermaid as they soak the stress away!
I'll be using some dies from Avery Elle and Lawn Fawn today to create the adorable little boxes and bags for these little gifts. I love the flexibility that these dies offer. I can create a bag or box from just about anything, allowing me to make the perfect little coordinating gift.
I've cut all of my bags and boxes from the Essentials By Ellen Woodgrain card stock. I love the texture that this adds. This card stock is also available in kraft. Either one is perfect for the holidays, or year round. It's an easy way to add texture to your project and make it stand out.
The Avery Elle Treat Tag and Box Die is perfect for the bath bomb. It's often a little more difficult to find a die that will accommodate a larger item like this bath bomb. This fits the bill perfectly. And I love that there's a coordinating tag die with the die set!
I created tags for my gifts by layering up several die cuts and stamped sentiments. I used patterned paper from the 6X6 FaLaLa pad. These modern holiday designs have me absolutely giddy. Nothing like some adorable holiday patterned paper to inspire the crafty mind.
To package up my pretty little polishes, I used the Lawn Fawn Goodie Bag die set. This fun little bag is great for packaging items like nail polish, along with a little mini nail file. Or put a small hand lotion, lip balm or necklace in it for a lucky recipient. You can even use this for a fun way to give a gift card.
I used a variety of sentiments from the Essentials By Ellen line for my projects today. I used the sparkle theme throughout because the polishes and bath bomb are so sparkly. I used the Season To Sparkle stamp set, Sparkle die and Spread The Sparkle stamp set to create various sentiments for my projects today.
To embellish another one of my gift bags, I used the Lawn Fawn Put A Bow On It die set. I cut this from Taylored Expressions felt. This made the most adorable felt bow for my little bag. I'll show you exactly how I put this together in the video tutorial below.
When you have that adorable felt bow as your focal point, you need very little embellishment to finish your project off. I made another fun tag with a glitter die cut to make this shine.
For the third polish, I wanted to create a bag with a window so that the recipient could get a peek of what's inside. I used a heart die from Hero Arts to die cut a window on the bag prior to assemble.
To keep the stuffings from falling out, I placed a small piece of clear window sheet on the inside of my bag. This keeps all the basket filler, nail polish and mini nail file safely inside.
Finally, I wanted to show you the adorable variation I made for the bath bomb. Just like I said, with a quick change of patterned papers, I was able to take this holiday themed gift to girly girl birthday in a snap.
I love the patterned paper from the Girl Squad 6x6 patterned paper pad. Combined with the same sentiment die cut and stamp set as before, this project quickly becomes perfect for any occasion. I can't wait to make more to have on hand for fun little gifts for friends!
So there you have it! Several Pretty Little Packages perfect for the holidays. They're filled with handmade products that anyone is sure to love!
Don't forget to check out the video tutorial below to see how these all came together. I'll share some tips and tricks along the way!
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
XOXO

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by today. Today, I'm going to be creating a card with the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider die. This die is such a fun and easy way to create a DIY interactive card. I love interactive cards!
The Magic Color Slider die set has a lot of pieces, and it might seem a little overwhelming when you first look at them. But I'm going to show you exactly how to use all of these pieces in the video tutorial below. Be sure to check that out.
Once assembled, you're left with a tabbed piece that slides up, revealing a colorful image behind. It really is magical. I've chosen to have my slider reveal a colorful image beneath, but you could try a lot of variations on this. Maybe instead of just color underneath, a whole new scene is revealed. There are lots of possibilities for this die. It's got my wheels turning!
also love this die set because there are several pieces that can be used on other cards as well. The stitched pieces used to cut the window on the Magic Color Slider are great accents for any card. There is also a hello sentiment and a fun banner. These are dies that you can use on so many card projects!
Beneath my slider, I've used my Zig Art & Graphic Twin markers to color my scene on to some Bristol Smooth card stock. This paper is perfect for blending water based markers like the Zigs. I was able to create seamless blends with very little effort. Just remember, using the right paper for the markers you're using is KEY! While the Bristol isn't ideal for Copic coloring, it works like a dream when using these Zig markers.
I finished my card off with a few finishing touches. I added a few black enamel dots to bring in more of the black that is found in my stamped image and in the patterned paper I adhered beneath my heat embossed sentiment. I also added a bit of twine to the top of the slider portion of my card. Look ma! No glitter, no sequins, no gold! Can you even believe it?
Here's a look at the card as it slides up to reveal the colored scene beneath. Such a cool card!
As I said earlier, I'll be walking you through this in the video tutorial below, so be sure to check it out. I've also included links to all the projects used in this project below. I've even listed the marker colors I used individually. :)
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you've enjoyed this look at the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider Die Set. It's a new favorite of mine for sure! Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!

This cheeky monkey set, called Love Ya' Bunches by Lawn Fawn has some really fun sentiments to go with--be sure to watch the Facebook Video for the story behind the stamps! :)
You'll notice in the video that I didn't separate the dies to cut out the stamped images--you may find the method to be something you'd like to try. I wasn't going to use the excess card stock from around the stamped images anyway, so it worked great for me!
Last November we began celebrating our 10th anniversary with our United We Flourish theme. We would not be here without the amazing companies we work with, the designers who create stunning projects showcasing the wonderful products being created AND you, our fabulous customers! YOU are such a vital part of our creative community - you inspire & encourage us! Your response to United We Flourish was overwhelming and heart-warming. We heard repeatedly from you that you appreciate how our little company works together with the other manufacturers we carry to bring you their products and education showing how to use those products. To thank you for your constant support and encouragement, we have something incredibly special we began working on shortly after that anniversary.
We have partnered with some of our friends to offer exclusive limited edition stamp & die sets!!! These sets will be available for a limited time (most likely 3-6 months) after each release, depending on how quickly you snap them up. The theme of these stamps sets are uplifting and fun.
We are thrilled to present the first one to you... Love 'Ya Bunches by Lawn Fawn exclusively for Ellen Hutson LLC.
Lawn Fawn is one of the first companies we began representing years ago - working together with them has been such a pleasure! HUGE THANKS to Kelly, Mike and their whole team! WE LOVE YA' BUNCHES!!
These cute monkeys are swinging by to say hi! Add the extra leaves to the branch to make it look like the monkeys are hanging from the trees. Use a slider channel on your card and let the monkey swing from tree to tree! Combine with other Lawn Fawn critter sets to make a complete jungle scene. The possibilities are endless with this cute set!
This 4 X 6 stamp set includes 22 stamps, 13 images and 9 sentiments and comes with 11 matching dies.
The set is packaged in the Essentials by Ellen durable clear storage envelope with magnetic die sheet for easy storage.
This week our team, together with the Lawn Fawn team and some special guests, will be showing many different ways to use this set! Be sure to come back to the CLASSroom throughout the week for links to all the different spots where you can see these "apeeling" monkeys in action ;).

United We Flourish, because we're better together!
Hi everyone! I'm so glad you stopped by for Satur-YAY! We are celebrating the weekend by getting our craft on. There's no better way to spend your weekend. Am I right?
Today I'm going to be making a few Mothers Day cards using Tonic Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and some stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn.
I thought it would be fun to create my own custom color of Nuvo Mousse. I used the Mother of Pear and Aquamarine colors to create a beautiful, aqua minty green color. This mousse has a beautiful pearlescent sheen to it and dries instantly on your cardstock when applied with a cloth, your finger or a brush. You can cover an entire piece of card stock to create your own custom pearly card stock, or just use it on a portion of your card stock like I did.
I'll show you how I created my own custom color in the video tutorial below. I'll also give you a few different ways to apply the Nuvo Mousse to your project to create different looks, including a shimmery watercolor effect. All of these different methods of application will give you a slightly different look. Be sure to check out the video tutorial below. I'll walk you through all of that.
I'm using Lawn Fawn's Fab Flowers and Happy, Happy, Happy stamp and die sets. These fun and funky flowers make stamp layering easy. And the Happy, Happy, Happy stamp set has a greeting for almost any occasion.
I finished the cards off with a frame die cut from real wood paper and a little shine with the Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix from Pretty Pink Posh.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you've enjoyed these projects and I hope I've inspired you to get in your craft room and create something this weekend! If you do, I'd love to see what you create. Share it on Instagram using #EllenHutsonSaturYAY so I can check it out. Until next time, happy crafting and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Hello, Crafters! Spring is in the air in my southern part of the U.S. -- How about in yours? All the budding flowers and beautiful greenery helped to inspire today's card:
A new arrival in the store also contributed to my inspiration ... all of the beautiful new Springy colors of Distress Oxide Inks!! (Please don't fret if these sell out of the store again quickly this week, as I hear another shipment is expected next week! Just click on the "Notify Me" button on the product page and you'll be emailed when they are back in stock.)
I adore shaped cards, so today I'm using the generously-sized Stitched Party Banners from Lawn Fawn, along with their Milo's ABC's alphabet stamp set to create my custom greeting:
To start, I die cut Ranger Watercolor paper with the largest Stitched Party Banner die, then positioned the die cut in my Misti. Then I started arranging the floral stamps on the paper:
Some of the stamps were easy enough to ink two colors at once -- I just placed a sticky note over the surrounding stamps:
One advantage of the Misti is that once a stamp (and in this case a particular color) has been inked and stamped, you can remove it and move on to inking the next stamp in a different color. This just makes it a little easier to mask off a few stamps that you don't want inked with that particular color. Once all the stamping was done, I went back with a waterbrush and lightly moved each color around within each flower, to lightly color them. In some spots, I added a little more ink by just picking up additional color directly from the ink pad with my waterbrush. Be sure to clean off your waterbrush between colors. Below, I've just started coloring the pink flowers on the left:
I love that the watered version of these Oxide inks is a lighter, softer hue than the original, just stamped, version! In particular, Spiced Marmalade watercolors more golden yellow than the vibrant orange it stamps and Fossilized Amber watercolors a pretty, soft yellow! For the flower stems, I just selectively inked the length of stem I wanted and carefully stamped around the existing flowers (because I don't like making and cutting masks!), but you could easily mask if you wanted.
Next, to make the shaped card base I die cut a folded Neenah Solar White (lighter 80 Lb. weight) card base with the largest Stitched Party Banners die. Just place the folded edge of the cardstock slightly below the cutting edge of the die, so the folded edge is not cut:
I could have made this card one layer by just die cutting folded watercolor paper in the beginning and using that to watercolor on. But since just about any watercolored paper will have some warping, I like to be able to put lots of adhesive on the back of a watercolor piece and adhere it to a card base, to help combat the warping. My favorite adhesive to use for this purpose is X-Press It High Tack Double-Sided 1/2-inch Tape.
Once the watercolor piece was adhered to the shaped card base, I tied Lawn Fawn's Black Hemp Cord through the die cut holes on the card front ...
... and accented four of the flowers/flower centers with Pretty Pink Posh 4 mm Clear Droplets, using Glossy Accents, as this is a nice strong clear adhesive:
To finish the card, I made a custom "HELLO" greeting using Lawn Fawn's Milo's ABC's and stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black.
What dies do you have in your stash that could be used to make a shaped card? Look for larger (about 4 inches plus) dies. I like that this particular banner can be used nicely in either orientation!
Happy #TexturalTuesdays! It's Lisa here on the CLASSroom blog and I'm super thrilled to be showcasing some fun Lawn Fawn goodness with you -- as we all are this week with our Lawn Fawn Product Focus.
I'm using FOUR dies from Lawn Fawn to create all the fun and depth to my card.
I started off by cutting lots and lots of felt flowers using the Flower Power die and lots of beautiful felt from Taylored Expressions. I like to use colors that match, but still contrast. Then I layered them up. I made 1 large flower and 2 smaller flowers.
I used 2 pieces of patterned paper and put the Speech Bubble Border die on top of both pieces and ran the two pieces through my Sizzix Big Shot Plus. I now have two pieces of paper that are uniformly die-cut to use, but can mix and match! (I flipped my paper to make it work for me.)
Next up, I run a piece of Marshmallow white cardstock by Bazzill through my Big Shot Plus using the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables. This is going to form a base for the patterned paper but is still smaller than the actual card base. (So the pretty scalloped edges will show.)
The patterned paper is adhered to the white, scalloped, die-cut piece. And then this piece is adhered to the card base.
Die-cut the word "big hugs" out of the Candy Necklace Bazzill Cardstock AND from craft foam. After die-cutting, adhere the two pieces together with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte. Adhere into desired place on card using the same Multi-Medium Matte.
Now that the sentiment is in place, the flowers can be placed. I played around a LOT with placement before deciding on what looked best to me. Once I made my final decision I used the Ranger Multi-Medium Matte to adhere into place.
For embellishments, I added a few 4 mm Cupped, Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. One onto each flower, as a highlight, and two more in random locations. I also added some pretty enamel accents from Taylored Expressions to balance things out.
The final touch was simply to swipe some WInk of Stella in Clear over my sentiment and that's IT! My card is done.
This card is not quite as thick as it looks, but it would take a few extra stamps to put through the mail. The felt makes such a lovely #textural touch. And all the colors are so beautiful! Almost like Spring....almost. ;)
And here's a close up to you can see the sentiment better. It's offset, just a teensy bit.
This die has SOOOO many possibilities--I have a gazillion different scenes playing out in my head and how this fab die makes them all easily possible!
I used watercolor paper and the Art Graphic Twin Markers. These markers are my personal all-time favorites and excellent whether you are a beginning or advanced stamper! They are:
Water-based
Available in a wide range of colors (also in sets--please refer to the supply links down below)
Vibrant, juicy colors
Dual tipped, with a brush and bullet nib made of durable but flexible rubber

Hello Friends! It’s Chari Moss here today! I’m excited to be sharing some cards with you today in the CLASSroom featuring some fun new products coming very soon to the shop!
I was presented with design challenge of using Lawn Fawn and Essentials By Ellen products together on one card. Lucky for me I had some fun new goodies to get my creativity flowing. I decided to pair the new Out of this World set from Lawn Fawn (releasing 2/23) with a brand spanking new set from Essentials by Ellen (releasing 2/21). So new in fact I can only share a peek of it.
Of course I had to use the little starry sky die with Lawn Fawn’s Out of this World to set create a “spacey” scene. First I cut two 3.5” x 4.75” panels from Neenah Solar White card stock. These will be the front of my cards. I then stamped my background using my MISTI tool so I could perfectly line up the image and stamp twice, using two different ink colors.
I stamped the lighter color first then bumped the edges of the stamp with a darker ink and stamped it again. The panel on the left uses the new Lawn Fawn Grape Soda ink with Juice Box ink along the edges and the panel on the right uses the new Moonstone ink with Fish Tank ink along the edges.
Because I planned on coloring my images with Copic markers I stamped them with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink which is Copic friendly. After I had my images colored I used the coordinating dies to cut them out perfectly. I then stamped the sentiments with Black Licorice ink and also added some stars, from the same new Essentials by Ellen set, using Golden Glitz Delicata ink.
To me the starry background I created is reminiscent of a backdrop in a play. So I continued on with that theme by “hanging” my rocket and moon images from the top of my card with some hand drawn “strings.” I also added some clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle to my moon for some simmer.
I can’t seem make a card without using foam adhesive, and I just love the thin foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives. Knowing I wanted to use foam tape to adhere my front panels to the cards I used the thin foam squares for my images to keep the cards from being too bulky.
On my astronaut card I added a little detail using the shooting star die from the new Lawn Fawn Starry Skies die set and also stamped some Delicata ink on the card base so it would show through the die cut star.
To finish up I mounted the front panels to Neenah Solar White card bases using Foam tape. For some final touches I sprinkled some Pretty Pink Posh Clear sequins through the sky and added a drop of Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops to the window of the rocket.
I really love how this pair of cards turned out. Thanks to Ellen Hutson for having me today on the blog and for sharing their newest release of stamps with me. I can assure you all that you are going to love all the new products to come!

Lawn Fawn Out of the World stamp set & coordinating dies
Hey everyone!! It's Lisa with you today and we're celebrating Ink Week here in the CLASSroom. Each one of the team members this week will be featuring a different brand of ink and showing how we used it. Cool, huh? AND through January 22nd you can snag 20% off in-stock items in the ink-promo category!!
I have the pleasure of featuring Distress Inks. Yay me! So here is what I created for all of you lovelies today.
Making this card was such a labor of love. The colors make me happy and so does the sort of abstract quality of it.
Let me show (and tell) you how this card came together:
I used a piece of Ranger watercolor paper and used the smooth side. I'll cut this down to the size I need later on.
Then the FUN begins! I use the Ranger Distress Mini Ink Pads for this, but you could also use the full size Distress pads. And any color palette that is pleasing to YOUR eye. (Don't feel obligated to use the colors I did.)
Blend using a mini-blending tool. The embossing resists the dye ink, so if you wish to see more of the embossing you can always use a damp paper towel or baby wipe to reveal more of the embossing. (I didn't.)
Once the Texture Luxe is dry I knew I wanted to give my panel a watercolor look. I smooshed the 2 darkest opposing colors onto my work surface and spritzed with water. Then, using my Black Velvet #2 Watercolor brush, I dipped the brush into the smooshed ink and went around some of the edges of the flowers, pulling the color out. Add more water, if necessary. I did not go around all the edges. I thought it would look more organic not to do that. I also used a white gel pen with my watercolor brush (and water) to add additional accents.
And this is when I decided to flip my panel and make a VERTICAL card!! I die cut the panel, and using thin foam squares, adhered it to another die-cut piece with scalloped edges. Then the whole thing got adhered to my card base.
I hope that you'll consider using your Distress Inks a little differently, blend non-traditional colors or use them as watercolors! And most of all...have fun!
Hey there #TexturalTuesdays friends! It's Lisa once again for my last post before Christmas. I KNOW!! It's only 5 days away! Yikes! Personally? I've been too busy moving to care. My family is getting dryer lint or dust bunnies. ;)
While my craft supplies are not exaaaactly unpacked I did find some things to create today's project and I thought this would be a fun one for ya. So let's get our glitter on!
Using a mixture of mostly microfine glitters, one Distress Glitter, and a Glitter TAPE to create my "present" was super simple (a tiny bit messy, but very easy to clean up).
My trick, if there is one, is to use the large sheets of the Be Creative tape. If you have the rolls of the tape in different widths already? That's fine. I just like that this tape is so easy to cut into whatever width I want with very little waste.
Once you start applying the tape down, either glitter as you go (which is what I did) OR lay all your sections of tape down first and then glitter. In either case, you will want to burnish the tape after you lay it down, pull up the liner, sprinkle the glitter, burnish the glitter into the tape with your finger, and brush away the excess. This is the key to good glittering! (And good glitter.)
You can see from the image above how smooth, shiny and almost silky the glitter looks!
Two of the blue glitter colors that I chose were very similar, so near the center I decided to use glitter tape to differentiate between the two. The Best Creation Glitter Tape in Black is beautiful and cuts very simply on your paper trimmer.
I, of course, had to "wrap" my present so for this I used baker's twine. I use tweezer's to hold the twine at the center since I only have two hands and my cat is worthless with bows. Using tiny dots of Ranger's Multi Medium in Matte helps hold the bow and twine where I want it.
Then I die-cut a few little snowflakes out of white glitter paper to add to the present and adhered those to the corner. I popped up the smaller one using a tiny foam square.
When I was glittering from blue to white or vice versa the colors DID blend. But, I'm one of those people that doesn't strive for perfection. To me it looks a bit ombre. So I went with it. If you are a perfectionist? Please be careful when going from a light to dark or the other way. Or wear a blindfold. Heehee! :)
As usual, here are some close ups of my project...
I just LOVE this sentiment, don't you?! And pretty perfect for this card.
I hope you enjoyed getting glittery with me today and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday from my ♥ to yours. Oh! If you're wondering about mailing something like this? I would just move the sentiment or make this card a special delivery only. :)
Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. Button, button, whose got the button? When I first started making cards years ago embellishing with buttons was very popular. I still have a whole drawer dedicated to buttons in my craft room. Lilac Lane has created fun Embellishment Kits and Bottles filled with color coordinated buttons, sequins, pearls and seed beads. My button Christmas tree was made using the Yuletide Greetings bottle and paired with the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables.
Cut a scalloped layer to use as the base for the button tree. Pour the whole bottle of embellishments into a small bowl to make it easier to pick and choose what you want to use.
Apply adhesive to the back of each button and attach to the cardstock base. I wanted to make sure the buttons would be secure so I used small dots of hot glue. Hint: Using tweezers to hold the button when applying the hot glue is safer than holding it in your fingers.
Start the tree by attaching the green buttons in a straight line across the scalloped base. Continue adding button lines but eliminating one button for each layer to form the tree. Form the trunk of the tree with two white buttons.
Apply adhesive to the red buttons and attach them randomly to the button tree.
Apply adhesive to a tiny bow and attach to the top of the tree.
Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the larger red scalloped layer and attach to the card base. Apply double stick tape to the back of the tree layer and attach to the red layer.
I thought I would share a link to a Google search I did for button art projects. I found an amazing amount of inspiration for using the color coordinated Embellishment Kits and Bottles. I hope you have been inspired to find fun ways to use your collection of buttons.
Hi! It's Carly and I'm super excited to be here for day 8 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas! It's such an exciting time, getting to see the beautiful tags designed by an awesome group of ladies and I'm so honored to be a part of it! And I'm thrilled to have Kelly Marie Alvarez joining me today as my creative tag partner!!!
I had great fun choosing this inspiration piece by amazing artist Margaret Berg:
I couldn't wait to create my own forest of rainbow trees!
Creating this little rainbow watercolor forest was easy! Just ink tree stamp with Distress Ink then use a waterbrush to add water to the stamp. You can also mist the inked stamp with water but I like that this method gives me a bit more control.
Stamp tree on smooth watercolor cardstock like Bristol.
Repeat in other colors to create a little colorful forest.
Then the forest needs snow! To create glittered snowflake, I die cut some snowflakes from double-sided adhesive like Be Creative. I used the Lawn Fawn Mini Snowflakes and they are very delicate so I removed them very carefully from the die.
Remove one side of liner paper, apply sticky snowflake to tag, remove top liner, use tweezers to smooth out any wrinkles and add glitter!
Add a sentiment. I used one of my very favorite Essentials by Ellen sentiments.
And no holiday tag could really be complete without a little Lawn Fawn sweetie! One of my favorite things about Lawn Fawn is there adorable cast of characters! I had to stamp a bunch because I just didn't know how to choose!
I finally choose the little fox, gave him a scarf borrowed from an alpaca and foam mounted him to the tag.
We are delighted to have Kelly Marie Alvarez, owner of Lawn Fawn, join us again this year! We adore Kelly's bright, cheerful style and we think she is just the nicest too!!! We love how Kelly was inspired by the colors and imperfectness of the trees to create messy watercolor stripes! And how adorable is her unicorn?! You can find more of Kelly's adorable creations on the Lawn Fawn blog.
Thank you so much Kelly for sharing your talent with us and inspiring us with your creativity!

Hey there #TexturalTuesdays friends! It's Lisa AAAAAND it's Tuesday so it's time to fill your heads with something fun. :)
First, I want to make sure that you've all had time to enjoy the Essentials by Ellen Holiday 2016 Release Hop and all the beautiful new designs by Julie Ebersole and Brandi Kincaid. TODAY is the very last day to leave a comment on any of the posts in the HOP to be eligible for prizes, so be sure you do!! This post is not eligible for goodies -- sorry. Oh wait! You get to see what I made! And that's pretty cool.
What I did is I used the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies, Holiday Words by Julie Ebersole and left them attached together. I die-cut them out of acetate to use as a.....STENCIL!!! Yep. Awesome, huh? And keep those left-over acetate bits and use them on another card! YIPPEE!!
I die-cut the beautiful plaid paper into an oval and positioned my new stencil on top to make sure I could align it properly. I used an older washi tape to secure the patterned paper to my surface and a stronger tape to secure the stencil. (This was so I was certain not to tear my patterned paper with the washi tape.)
Then using any type of texture paste and a craft spatula (or flat end of a credit card, gift card) very gently scrape some of the paste over your new stencil. Just be gentle as you scrape. It's easy for the paste to get under the stencil. Got it? But before it has set up, it's still easy to scrape some of the remnants away.
Gently lift your stencil straight up and off. Before it dries and sets up, generously sprinkle the texture paste with the light colored glitter of your choice. Let the glitter become one with the texture paste HAHHA!! ;)
Cool, huh?
From this point on it's just building the card. I created the card base out of Bazzill Card Shoppe Caramel Apple Cardstock. I then cut a smaller panel out of Bazzill Card Shoppe Wax Lips Cardstock. This piece was run through my Big Shot Plus with the brand new Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies Stitches Cover Plate by Julie Ebersole. I also distressed the edges for a little extra funkiness. Between the oval and the red I added just a little square of vellum to soften the color palette. Some snowflakes, twine, and pearls (colored with Copics) finished this card. I hope you like it!
Here are some different views:
Look at that sparkle!!
This is a really weird angle for a card, but I wanted to show the dimension of the texture paste! It's really fun.
Just think of ALL the amazing stencils you can make from the wonderful Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies!! Has your mind blown yet? You will only be held back by YOUR imagination.
Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. We’re playing with Craft-a-Board this week and I had fun using Julie’s Poinsettia and Pine set to to create an evergreen arrangement to embellish the Peace sentiment on my project.
I have only used Craft-a-Board a couple of times in the past so I performed a search on the CLASSroom homepage and found Julie’s In Touch post showing several fun and different ways to use the product.
To begin cut pine and pinecone pieces. I had no trouble at all getting a clean cut with the wafer thin dies.
Apply a dark layer of Peeled Paint ink to the outer pine branches with a mini applicator. Just apply a light amount of green to the center of the branch.
Apply a light layer of Vintage Photo ink down the center of the branch.
Apply more green over the brown to blend the colors to create a natural looking branch.
Apply Vintage Photo ink to the pinecone with a mini applicator.
Apply Gathered Twigs ink to the outer edges of the pinecone.
Apply versa to the branches and pinecones and emboss with clear embossing powder.
Cut the sentiment out using Craft-a –Board and again using Bazzill Red Hots cardstock. Attach the two layers together with a Cosmic Glitter Glue. Apply versa to the sentiment and emboss with clear embossing powder.
Julie’s Tip:To create a double-thick embellishment from a more intricate die cut shape, try leaving one shape inside the negative and apply glue over the top; this will prevent glue from getting everywhere. Simply mount the second shape directly over top, then use a stylus or tweezers to eject/release the shape from the negative.
Apply the scalloped layer to the card base using thin strips of mounting tape.
Arrange the pine branches and attach to the card base using glossy accents. Hint:Hold the pieces in place for a bit to reinforce until the glue to begins to set against the slippery embossed pieces.
Apply Cosmic Glitter Glue to the back of the sentiment and attach to the card base.
I was not originally going to add the red branches to the arrangement but felt the design looked too bare. I cut Red Hots foliage pieces from the set to match the sentiment, embossed them with clear embossing powder and attached them around the pine pieces with glossy accents.
I love the foliage and pine dies in the this set and how pretty they looked arranged together against the all white card base.
I hope you are enjoying the focus on Craft-a-Board this week. Thanks for coming by and I’ll see you next time.
Hello! Carolyn Peeler with you today. As we are less than a week away from Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, giving thanks is foremost on my mind. So, what better week to share this trio of thank you cards which were all made using the same techniques and steps. Today's project is the perfect assembly line project that can help you whip out a bunch of cards in a short time span.
First, gather your supplies:
The beautiful "On Trend 2" 6x6 paper pad by My Mind's Eye
Choose three of the patterned papers from the pad to be the background of your cards. Cut them so that they are each 5 inches wide x 4.5 inches high.
Cut your watercolor paper into three pieces that are 4 inches wide x 2.25 inches high.
Mist a light coat of water onto the watercolor paper, and using the distress inks as your watercolor paint, paint an ombre background onto each watercolor rectangle.
Here is the spiced marmalade ombre:
And here is the Picked Raspberry ombre:
And here are all three together. You will glue them directly onto the patterned paper card rectangle you cut in step #1.
Next you're going to take the Craft-a-Board and cut the "Thanks" title with it. If you've never used it before, Craft-a-board is a product to get excited about! It is thicker than cardstock, but thinner than chipboard. This means that it will cut with most thin dies. A metal shim will help it cut all the way through. Glue the "thanks" to the upper center of each ombre watercolor rectangle. Then, using "Jet Black" archival ink by Ranger, stamp the "you're so sweet" stamp from the "Warm Fuzzies" stamp set directly below the thanks.
We're almost done! You'll want to cut 3 pieces of cardstock 5.5" high x 8.5" wide. Fold in half. This is your card. Now, glue the patterned paper with the greeting onto the front of the card. The last step is to use a corner rounder to round the bottom corners of your card.
This is a fast project that is PERFECT for assembly line crafting and getting a bunch of cards knocked out at once! Please let me know if you have any questions as I'd be happy to help. And here are the direct links to the products in the Ellen Hutson shop.
Hi everyone! Welcome to Satur-YAY! Today is all about celebrating the weekend by getting our craft on. I'm Carissa and I'm here to inspire you and get those creative juices flowing! My hope is that you'll walk away ready to create something of your own.
Today I'll be using the Slide On Over dies from Lawn Fawn, along with some of my favorite Essentials By Ellen stamps, to create a fun slider card. You're not going to believe how easy it is to create a slider card with these Slide On Over dies. And, they're designed to coordinate with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border dies. I love it when products are designed to be used alone, or with another set. I feel like you can really get more out of your products that way!
To color my images, I chose to do a little sparkle watercolor using my Distress Inks. I used my Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay pen just like you would a water brush. By using the Clear Overlay pen instead of a plain 'ol water brush, I get a watercolor image with LOTS of sparkle! And we all know how I love a little sparkle in my life.
I'll show you exactly how I created the card in the video tutorial below. I'll be sure to show you exactly how to use the Slide On Over dies to create an easy slider card. Be sure to check that out.
I've also put together a few tips for using the Side On Over dies to make your slider card work flawlessly.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Go incognito- In order to disguise your slider track, make sure you add a piece of card stock or inking that matches the card front you're using. If you're using a pink card front, and a white card base, your white slider track will be really obvious on your finished card. You can camouflage this by adding the same color card stock in the area behind the slider track.
Double up the double stick- Add a double layer of foam adhesive to your card front. This will allow more room for your penny to slide between the card front layer and the card base layer. In the end, your slider will move more freely and you won't have to coerce it to move back and forth.
Make a trip to the powder room- The foam adhesive you use to adhere your slider element may have a little bit of stick on the sides. This will cause the slider element to stick in places and not allow for a smooth ride. By deactivating the sides of your foam tape with a little bit of powder (a powder tool, embossing buddy or even baby powder will work here), you'll get a smoother glide along the track. Also, try powdering the inside edges of your slider track as well. Okay, I was lacking for a clever little saying for this one...so you get corny jokes instead.
Spinning in circles- If you use circle shaped foam adhesive inside your track instead of a rectangular or square piece, you can make your slider SPIN and slide too! I'll show you an example of this in the video tutorial.
Mix it up- Try using a sentiment as the slider element or even adding multiple sliders to the same card. You can really have a lot of fun with this!
Xacto-mundo- If you don't have these dies and you want to create a slider card, you can use a craft knife or to cut your own channel in your card front.
I hope you've enjoyed today's project. I know I had a blast making this one. There's just something about an interactive card that just makes me giddy.
So now that you've watched me do my thing, it's time for you to do your thing. Get your craft on! I can't think of a better way to celebrate the weekend! Once you've made your project, be sure to share a photo on Instagram and use #EllenHutsonSaturYAY so I can see what you've made!
Thanks for stopping by. Happy Satur-YAY! Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
