There are so many brands & types of embossing powder, how do you choose what kind to use?
Here at EH we think embossing powder is a bit like ice cream, there are so many flavors and they are all good but everyone has their favorites!
Let's talk a little bit about all the "flavors" that are out there, how they are different and what they are used for...
Embossing powders come in different grades, finishes, colors, etc.
Grade is a reference to the size of the powder granules.
- Super Fine/Detail: the smallest granules, good for detailed stamp images
- Regular: all-purpose & most common size
- Ultra High/Ultra Thick: large granules, ideal for special techniques using thick layers
Finish is the appearance of the melted powder.
- Transparent: these powders will be affected by the color underneath.
- Opaque: opaque powders are not affected by the color underneath
- Metallic: has appearance of polished metal
- Specialty: includes glitter, glow in the dark, puffy and more
We've created a handy reference chart for you that includes the brands we currently carry at EH and their features.
