Hello crafty friends! I am so happy and excited to be in the Classroom today sharing two cards featuring the awesome April Leading Ladies stamp sets: Everyday Hero Lady and Hot Mess Lady. On both cards, I used Distress Oxides to create fun backgrounds that let the ladies shine.
For the first card, I stamped the leading lady from Everyday Hero on smooth white cardstock and colored her with Copic markers. These larger stamps are so fun to color! I used the coordinating die to cut her out.
List of Copic markers I used:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E04
Hair: YR21, E35, E37, E57
Pants: B93, B95, B99
Top: YG05, YG07, YG09
Cape: R24, R37, R37, R59
Sneakers: N0, N03
Crown: YR13, YR19, R35, R59
I decided at this point to add one of the sentiments on her T-shirt. So fun, right?! I love wearing T-shirts and sweaters with sentiments, so when I realized I was able to to replicate that on the leading ladies, I was elated! I applied the T-shirt with antistatic powder and stamped the sentiment with Versamark Ink. I set the white embossing powders with a heat tool.
To create the sunray panel, I first inked trimmed Bristol cardstock with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide using a blending tool. Then, I laid the sunray stencil on top, taped the sides, and inked it with Fossilized Amber.
For the second sentiment on the card, I inked a small area with Wild Honey Distress Oxide. After the ink dried, I applied antistatic powder, inked the sentiment with Versamark Ink and set the white embossing powder with a heat tool. Then, I used the burst die to cut out the sentiment from the Everyday Hero Lady Designer Dies.
To assemble the card, I adhered the sun-ray panel to a top folding A2 sized card base. On top of the panel, I mounted a strip of white cardstock to the bottom to ground the image with foam tape. To finish, I adhered the leading lady and the sentiment with foam tape as well for dimension.
For the second card, I stamped and colored the leading lady and the travel coffee mug from Hot Mess Lady set with Copic markers, and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I added the sentiment on the sweater the same way as I did on the first card.
List of Copic markers I used:
Skin: E000, YR000, E01, E11, E04, R20 (cheeks)
Hair: E11, E15, E17, E19
Skirt: B91, B95, B99
Sweater: V01, V12, V15
Coffee Travel Mug: T0, T02, T04, T07
To create the rainbow circle background, I made little circles on a Bristol cardstock with Distress Oxides using Worn Lipstick, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachios, Spiced Marmalade, Mermaid Lagoon, Seedless Preserves) with finger daubers. I started in the middle and inked my way out. To add texture, I spritzed it with water and blotted it dry with a paper towel. Then, I die-cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.
To assemble the card, I mounted the inked panel to a top folding A2 sized card base with foam tape. To finish, I mounted the images with foam tape as well.
I had so much fun making my cards with these totally loveable and relatable leading ladies. A big thank you to Ellen for having me as a guest and thank you for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day and happy cardmaking!!
