Hi everyone! I’m always very excited when I get to guest design with the lovely ladies at Ellen Hutson! And I’m very happy to share a card today made with the newest Ellen Hutson stamp release! I was lucky enough to receive the new stamps early and I thoroughly enjoyed playing with everything. Thank you for having me here today in the CLASSroom, Ellen and crew. Let’s have some fun!
My card features the brand new Baker Lady stamps and dies, the latest edition in this fun line of stamps. I have the sweet baker lady holding up a pretty cake, and I’m going to use this as a birthday card for one of my best girlfriends who has a September birthday coming up.
I started this card with an A2 Kraft card base. I used the beautiful Mama Elephant Femme Frames Die set to cut a red layer and then a white layer. I used another die set to make some clouds for the bottom of the card. Next I stamped and die cut out the lady, the cake, the whisk and the tiny lemon. I like to die cut my images out before I color them in case I make a mistake when die cutting. I used Copic Markers to color everything - the exact colors are listed below in the supplies. The little lemon slice on top of the cake is from the Ellen Hutson Spa Day stamp set.
Here is a close up of the perfect sentiment! I stamped it in rich black ink. I stamped the sentiment onto the cloud piece. I wrapped some pretty twine around that piece before attaching it to the card using foam tape.
I really like to do paper piecing mixed in with my Copic coloring and I just knew that this adorable baker lady needed a sweet gingham apron. I used the MFT Tiny Check paper to make her apron. This is such an easy technique, but the results are always great! Stamp a second image onto the gingham paper and cut it out with scissors getting close to the edge. Then glue it onto the main image.
For Coloring faces and skin I like to use the Copic colors of E000, E00, and E01. Here is a close up of the Face before I added the cheek color. The cheek color I almost always use is RV10. I add the pink cheeks after the lighter colors have dried.
I finished off the images by adding tiny bits of Star Dust Stickles. Here’s another tip - I use a tiny paint brush to apply the stickles to small areas. Just squeeze out some onto a scrap paper and use the brush to get those small areas. Also, You can cover a large area in Stickles by using a big paint brush. Easy-peasy. Rinse your brush out with water right away so it doesn’t dry.
To complete the card, I mounted the baker lady, the cake and the whisk onto the white card layer using foam tape. (I’m kind of a foam tape-aholic) This card is nice and flat for easy mailing, but still has plenty of layers. Aqua and red is one of my favorite color combinations and always looks fresh.
Thank you again for having me as a guest today! It was my pleasure to share with you here in the CLASSroom! I would love it if you would visit my blog today or my Instagram page. I will have a giveaway for an Ellen Hutson gift certificate on my blog this weekend! Have a wonderful weekend! Wanda
