I love to give little homemade treats during the holidays, especially in adorable little boxes! Today I have a little tutorial to introduce (or remind) you about one of the easiest boxes EVER! And I have a little sneak peek of one of the newest Essentials By Ellen sets, available tomorrow!
What you need...
- cardstock - I used 80# Solar White & Desert Storm
- scoring tool - lots of paper trimmers have scoring blades but I think the easiest & best tool is a scoring board like a Scor-Pal
- bone folder
- circle die - if you want your box lid to have a window
- acetate - for the window
- adorable treat like this little donut soap (learn more about soap making from the Soap Queen by Brambleberry and see more about the donut soap here)
To make the box...
- How big do you want your box to be? I wanted a 3 inch box to fit my little donut soap and I wanted tall sides too, 2 inches, so I started with a 7x7 piece of cardstock.
- Next score like the gray lines in the graphic above. I scored 2 inches and then rotated and scored 2 inches, etc, etc.
- Cut the score lines on the left & right to create tabs.
- Trim a little from each tab at an angle.
- Add strong adhesive to tabs and assemble into box.
- Creating the lid is the same process, with shorter sides and a slightly wider base. And a circle has been cut to add a window. Easy right? And it's really cute!
- I used some of the sweet stamps from the new Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps Leading Ladies - Baker Lady by Brandi Kincaid (available tomorrow) to decorate my lid.
- And I stamped the cutie pie Baker Lady on a circle to create a tag. I used Copics because I'm always looking for the opportunity to practice :)
- Little tip...my donut soap needed a little cushion but I didn't have any crinkly paper filler handy so I made my own! I used my fringe scissors with some scrap pieces of vellum, glassine and parchment.
Have a great day!
Hugs, Carly
