Happy Thursday! It's Carly and I'm here for another #throwbackthursdays, where we find inspiration in The CLASSroom archives! This week we are celebrating a new Essentials By Ellen release!!! Julie and Brandi have designed some awesome new stamps & dies, and its been so fun to play with them!
When I first saw Julie's Otterly Awesome set I new I wanted to create some glittered ocean for those little cuties but I wasn't exactly sure how. I decided to use one of my favorite glitter techniques, Burnished Velvet, and pair it with some negative die cutting. Here are some articles from past CLASSroom posts that I found helpful:
In Detail: Product Reviews & News – Die Cutting Techniques by Jean Manis
Tape and Glitter, Glitter and Tape! by Lisa Strahl
And here's the card I created:
To create this card, start by cutting a piece of double-sided adhesive to fit the front of a card.
Arrange dies as desired on the piece of double-sided adhesive, secure with removable tape and die cut.
Remove the "back" liner paper from adhesive and carefully apply to a 4-1/1 x 5-1/2 cardstock panel. I used a piece of Solar White.
Using the MISTI, position stamps in the negative die cut openings and stamp.
Remove "top" liner paper from adhesive and apply glitter. Burnish glitter with your finger tips.
Color images. I used Distress Ink and did a quick watercolor.
Add finishing details. I die cut my glittered panel with a stitched rectangle, added some seaweed & sequins and gave my otter a little heart to hold.
Have a great day!
xo, Carly
