Hello Friends! It’s Chari Moss here today! I’m excited to be sharing some cards with you today in the CLASSroom featuring some fun new products coming very soon to the shop!
I was presented with design challenge of using Lawn Fawn and Essentials By Ellen products together on one card. Lucky for me I had some fun new goodies to get my creativity flowing. I decided to pair the new Out of this World set from Lawn Fawn (releasing 2/23) with a brand spanking new set from Essentials by Ellen (releasing 2/21). So new in fact I can only share a peek of it.
Of course I had to use the little starry sky die with Lawn Fawn’s Out of this World to set create a “spacey” scene. First I cut two 3.5” x 4.75” panels from Neenah Solar White card stock. These will be the front of my cards. I then stamped my background using my MISTI tool so I could perfectly line up the image and stamp twice, using two different ink colors.
I stamped the lighter color first then bumped the edges of the stamp with a darker ink and stamped it again. The panel on the left uses the new Lawn Fawn Grape Soda ink with Juice Box ink along the edges and the panel on the right uses the new Moonstone ink with Fish Tank ink along the edges.
Because I planned on coloring my images with Copic markers I stamped them with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink which is Copic friendly. After I had my images colored I used the coordinating dies to cut them out perfectly. I then stamped the sentiments with Black Licorice ink and also added some stars, from the same new Essentials by Ellen set, using Golden Glitz Delicata ink.
To me the starry background I created is reminiscent of a backdrop in a play. So I continued on with that theme by “hanging” my rocket and moon images from the top of my card with some hand drawn “strings.” I also added some clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle to my moon for some simmer.
I can’t seem make a card without using foam adhesive, and I just love the thin foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives. Knowing I wanted to use foam tape to adhere my front panels to the cards I used the thin foam squares for my images to keep the cards from being too bulky.
On my astronaut card I added a little detail using the shooting star die from the new Lawn Fawn Starry Skies die set and also stamped some Delicata ink on the card base so it would show through the die cut star.
To finish up I mounted the front panels to Neenah Solar White card bases using Foam tape. For some final touches I sprinkled some Pretty Pink Posh Clear sequins through the sky and added a drop of Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops to the window of the rocket.
I really love how this pair of cards turned out. Thanks to Ellen Hutson for having me today on the blog and for sharing their newest release of stamps with me. I can assure you all that you are going to love all the new products to come!
