Hello friends! Carolyn Peeler with you today to share an otterly cute card featuring some of the brand new stamp and die sets from today's release.
This project features the adorable "Otterly Awesome" Stamps and Dies, along with the "Otter Ware" die set, both designed by Julie Ebersole.
Super cute, right?! If you are already familiar with the "All Inside" bear stamp set that Julie designed last year, this set is similar in that the wee otter's arms are designed in such a way that, when cut with the coordinating die, they can hold things. TOO FUN!
So let's jump into the card I made.
First I stamped the Otter using Ranger "Jet Black" Archival ink onto watercolor paper. You'll notice that I didn't ink the whole image. I knew that I didn't want his feet to show, so I carefully applied the ink so that the feet would not be transferred.
To paint this guy I used Prima Watercolor Confections in "The Classics" and a ZIG medium brush. The majority of the otter is painted with the dark brown and I added a touch grey, and pink for his mouth, as well.
After the otter is painted, you will cut him out using the coordinating die.
Next you will cut the little frame using Mama Elephant's Instalove die and Bazzill Robin's Egg cardstock.
For the background that will go behind the frame I used some leftover watercolor paper that had some plops of color from a previous project. The colors were perfect!
The next step was to give my wee otter a heart to hold. I used the red and pink watercolor paints from the same Prima set I used earlier to paint on some watercolor paper, then I cut the heart using the heart die and glued it under the otter's arms.
Glue the otter to the background and then the frame on top of both of them.
Now it's time to add a greeting to the piece. I used the "Hello from the otter slide" stamp but inked it so that it was stamped with a different alignment from how it was designed. First, ink the "Hello" (as seen below) using the same "Jet Black" ink mentioned earlier:
Stamp "hello" above the otter inside the Robin's Egg frame.
Cut a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock in half, so that it is 5.5" high x 11" wide, then fold it in half to make a card that is 4.25" wide x 5.5" high. Cut a piece of the very pretty variegated aqua paper from the Pink Paislee "Take me Away" 6x6 paper pad the same size as your card front and glue it in place.
Next mount the Otter/Frame centered onto the card front using foam tape to give it a little dimension.
To finish off, I stamped the rest of the greeting on the inside of the card. Using "Jet Black" ink, ink the "from the" and stamp it to the far left. Finally, ink "otter slide" and stamp it to the right to finish the greeting.
And there you have it, an "Otterly awesome" greeting card that would be delightful to give to a friend or loved one. Please let me know if you have any questions.
