Hi there, Carolyn Peeler with you today to share a fun card project. I find this time between Christmas and New Years the perfect time of year to sit down and make a slew of cards to have on hand to give out as occasions pop up in the coming year.
To get started you will want to take a piece of 8.5" x 11" watercolor paper, I used this one by Ranger. and cut it in half so that you have two 8.5" x 5.5" pieces. Fold these in half so that you have two cards.
Next gather your stamps. I used the adorable "Birthday Riddles" set by Inky Antics. To stamp it I used Archival Ink in Jet Black by Ranger and a stamp block.
Stamp designs directly onto the center of the card.
Next it's time to color the images! I used a Ranger Craft Sheet as my blending mat, and Distress markers as the medium of color. To apply the color ,I used the Zig Detailer Watercolor Brush.
I used a combo of the following Distress markers for painting the clam (from top to bottom on the photo): Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Brushed Corduroy - for his arms
His lip color (appropriately) is Worn Lipstick and his toungue was watercolored with Spun Sugar.
What's a party without some confetti? I decided to color it bright and festive with Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers.
The final step to watercoloring this little guys was to create a watercolor background with Tumbled Glass.
To add a bit of pizzazz, I then used Glossy Accents on his eyes. I love the way it highlights them!
Let's move onto the wee kitten. For this stamped image, I colored her with Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and a touch of Spun Sugar for her cheeks.
Just like I did for the clam card, to finish her, I used the Tumbled Glass marker and watercolored a background around her. The final touch for both cards was to use the 1" x2" Inky Antics Scratch-off Stickers and put them over the punch line on the bottom of the card.
These are such cute cards that I am sure the little ones in my life would love to receive!
