Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. Button, button, whose got the button? When I first started making cards years ago embellishing with buttons was very popular. I still have a whole drawer dedicated to buttons in my craft room. Lilac Lane has created fun Embellishment Kits and Bottles filled with color coordinated buttons, sequins, pearls and seed beads. My button Christmas tree was made using the Yuletide Greetings bottle and paired with the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables.
Cut a scalloped layer to use as the base for the button tree. Pour the whole bottle of embellishments into a small bowl to make it easier to pick and choose what you want to use.
Apply adhesive to the back of each button and attach to the cardstock base. I wanted to make sure the buttons would be secure so I used small dots of hot glue. Hint: Using tweezers to hold the button when applying the hot glue is safer than holding it in your fingers.
Start the tree by attaching the green buttons in a straight line across the scalloped base. Continue adding button lines but eliminating one button for each layer to form the tree. Form the trunk of the tree with two white buttons.
Apply adhesive to the red buttons and attach them randomly to the button tree.
Apply adhesive to a tiny bow and attach to the top of the tree.
Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the larger red scalloped layer and attach to the card base. Apply double stick tape to the back of the tree layer and attach to the red layer.
I thought I would share a link to a Google search I did for button art projects. I found an amazing amount of inspiration for using the color coordinated Embellishment Kits and Bottles. I hope you have been inspired to find fun ways to use your collection of buttons.
