Hi everyone! Welcome to Satur-YAY. We're celebrating the weekend (and the upcoming NEW YEAR) by getting our craft on. And I have the perfect project on this mid winter day! It's time to bust out those supplies and create some thank you notes for all those fabulous gifts you received for the holidays....and for the not so fabulous gifts too. ;)
Today's card started with inspiration from the "red cup". Do you know what I'm talking about? THE red cup. The one full of warm fuzzies and fabulously smooth espresso (in my case). Maybe it's full of hot chocolate for you...or a creme brûlée latte. Whatever the case, that red cup gets me every time. And the design this year has a wonderfully hand drawn theme. I used that as my inspiration for today's thank you cards.
I will be using a few items from the Essentials By Ellen line, including the Oh Frappe stamp and die set, along with the Stitches Cover Plate.
I will be using an embossing diffuser with the Stitches Cover plate to add just a touch of this pattern to my background. I'll give you a close up look at these diffusers in the video below. These come in a set and are originally intended for use with embossing folders. They are the same thickness as a cutting pad and take the place of the cutting pad in your die cutting or embossing sandwich. I used the circle plate to add a circle of stitches to my card front. I also used the other part of this set to create another card front with stitches all over, except for the center area of the card. It's easy. You'll see. And it allows you to use your dies and embossing folders in new ways.
The Stitches Cover Plate just adds a warm and cozy feel to the card front. It reminds me of a warm, thick and cuddly cable knit sweater. And I love adding texture to my card fronts.
Now it wouldn't be a red cup inspired card without a red cup. I used the Oh Frappe stamp set to create the perfect red cup. Once I stamped it, I colored it with Copic markers. After the base coloring was done, it was time to add the hand drawn elements. I used the Dylusions Paint Pen to add bold white, hand drawn patterns to my cup. It so happens, that I had a red cup right on my desk when working on this. I used simple, easy to draw patterns....because I'm anything but good at drawing.
I also created some other cups, plain white and a couple pink ones just for fun. I added a small die cut green heart to the cups to bring in the ever so famous green color. The Bazzill Caramel Apple card stock seems to be the perfect green for this. This heart die is found in the Oh Frappe coordinating die set. It's the perfect touch.
I added some die cut hearts to my cups. That heart is a part of the Oh Frappe coordinating die set. To make them sparkle and shine, I added the Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen and then finished it off with a layer of Glossy Accents. The Glossy Accents just has a way of making a die cut feel like an embellishment. The shine and dimension are perfect for small die cuts like this!
