Hello and welcome to day 9 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist 2016! Sharon Harnist here with you today and I have the lovely Jean Manis as my guest. We will be showing you fun holiday tags featuring fabulous products from Taylored Expressions. I adore creating for this series each year -- it's my most favorite project (and time!) of the year!
My challenge to you is to combined frosty white with beautiful metallic gold and/or silver, to create a classic elegant holiday tag! Here are some inspiration photos for you:
To create my tag, I used some beautiful and functional Taylored Expressions dies and embossing folder, and Ellen's gorgeous gold leaf metallic cardstock!
Here are the easy steps:
Die cut Curious Metallic Gold Leaf cardstock with Taylored Expressions Tagging Along die. This die set is meant to be cut twice and assembled into a gift box, but the main tag is perfectly sized for a large tag (approximately 3-1/4" wide x 7-1/4" tall). I love products I can get more than just one type of use out of! Just die cut the "box" once, then snip off the left side that is supposed to be folded and made into the box bottom:
Next, dry emboss the tag with Taylored Expressions Winter Flurry Embossing Folder. TE's embossing folders have a slit in the center of the folded top edge, which allows the tag to be embossed fully on the bottom first (the tag bottom is wider than the embossing folder slot, but the top tag scallops will fit through the slot). Then just re-position the top of the tag in the embossing folder and emboss it:
Next, die cut Taylored Expressions pretty Merry & Bright frame from Crafter's Companion White Pearl Shimmering Cardstock and Tim Holtz silver glittery Deco Sheets. Snip the "Merry & Bright" words and ampersand off the silver glitter paper frame and adhere them over the white pearl frame. Adhere the Merry & Bright frame with X-Press It Foam Tape to the tag:
Die cut Taylored Expressions Jolly Old St. Nick border from the white pearl shimmer cardstock and cut it in half, along the right edge of the square gift. Cover the Christmas tree with Star Dust Stickles and color the tree's star with Silver Zig Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Marker; let dry. Adhere the tree border along the bottom edge of the tag, towards the right side, using one layer of foam tape.
Next, color the balls at the end of Santa and the child's hats, and the bow on the gift with the Silver Wink of Stella, then adhere along the bottom edge/left side of the tag using two layers of foam tape under Santa and one layer of foam tape where it overlaps the first layer/tree. Finish the bottom edge of the Santa strip with the Stickles.
Here's a side view of all the dimension this tag has:
Finish the tag by making a hole at the top of the tag using Crop-A-Dile. Make a hole reinforcement out of the pearl shimmer cardstock by using a 1/2" hole punch and the Crop-A-Dile. Tie Tim Holtz Crinkle Ribbon and 1/2" Silver Jingle Bells through the hole.
I wish you all a very merry and bright holiday season, and I look forward to seeing your interpretation of this challenge ... Have fun!
