Hi! It's Carly and I'm super excited to be here for day 8 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas! It's such an exciting time, getting to see the beautiful tags designed by an awesome group of ladies and I'm so honored to be a part of it! And I'm thrilled to have Kelly Marie Alvarez joining me today as my creative tag partner!!!
I had great fun choosing this inspiration piece by amazing artist Margaret Berg:
I couldn't wait to create my own forest of rainbow trees!
Creating this little rainbow watercolor forest was easy! Just ink tree stamp with Distress Ink then use a waterbrush to add water to the stamp. You can also mist the inked stamp with water but I like that this method gives me a bit more control.
Stamp tree on smooth watercolor cardstock like Bristol.
Repeat in other colors to create a little colorful forest.
Then the forest needs snow! To create glittered snowflake, I die cut some snowflakes from double-sided adhesive like Be Creative. I used the Lawn Fawn Mini Snowflakes and they are very delicate so I removed them very carefully from the die.
Remove one side of liner paper, apply sticky snowflake to tag, remove top liner, use tweezers to smooth out any wrinkles and add glitter!
Add a sentiment. I used one of my very favorite Essentials by Ellen sentiments.
And no holiday tag could really be complete without a little Lawn Fawn sweetie! One of my favorite things about Lawn Fawn is there adorable cast of characters! I had to stamp a bunch because I just didn't know how to choose!
I finally choose the little fox, gave him a scarf borrowed from an alpaca and foam mounted him to the tag.

We love how Kelly was inspired by the colors and imperfectness of the trees to create messy watercolor stripes! And how adorable is her unicorn?!
