Hi everyone! Welcome to day 3 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist. Carissa Wiley here with you today and I have the lovely Joni Nina Andaya as my guest today. I’ll be showing you a fun holiday tag featuring some stamps and dies from Pretty Pink Posh. I’ll also be incorporating some foiling along with it.
As you all know, I love all things shiny and all things gold. But today, I thought I would throw a little unexpected twist on the foiling theme. I know, I know. You were all expecting gold foil accents on my tag. But today, I’m going to be using the gorgeous Opal Foil from Therm O Web to create some beautiful snowy accents on my tag. There’s not a speck of gold on this tag, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t shine.
I also wanted to show you an easy way to incorporate foil without using a heat tool like a laminator or Minc to apply your foil. I know Julie has shared this technique in the past, and I’m sure I have also…I think. I’ll be using a two way glue pen and plenty of pressure to apply the foil to my pieces today.
I created that base of my tag by using a partial die cutting technique. This is a great way to get more use out of your dies. By using this technique, I was able to stretch out the Banner Duo die cut and create a longer version of the same die cut. It literally allows you to stretch your supplies.
My images come from a couple of the Pretty Pink Posh holiday stamp sets, Happy Snowman and Holiday Pals. To add a bit of sparkle to my colored images, I used my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens to color the images in. “Christmas is too sparkly,” said no one EVER.
I used my two-way glue pen and the Opal foil from ThermOWeb to create some beautiful, shimmery snowy accents. I added this opal foil to my snow banks, my trees and the bottom of my tag. My inner sparkle junky really wanted to keep going, but sometimes I have to practice restraint. ;)
I’ll walk you through the entire creation of this tag in the video tutorial below. Be sure to check it out.
I did find a way to sneak in a bit more sparkle. What would a tag featuring Pretty Pink Posh products be without some Sparkling Clear sequins? They are my favorite after all. And they make the perfect accent. I chose the smaller 3mm and 4mm sizes to keep them from feeling too overwhelming. They make for the perfect snowflakes falling from the sky.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed by tag project. I hope you’ll try adding a little foiling to your holiday tags this year. It can be very quick and easy….and chances are you already have all the tools you need for this technique.
Joni, from the Pretty Pink Posh design team has also created a tag to share with us today. Take a look at this adorable tag she created, using foil accents as well.
Join us tomorrow, for another exciting day of Christmas tags! Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
