Hi Friends! It's Carly and I'm here for another #throwbackthursdays, where we find inspiration in The CLASSroom archives!
As you know we are teaming up with Taylored Expressions this week to make sure you know how cool Taylored Expressions products are (and they are super nice too)! We {heart} Taylored products and we are so excited to now be carrying their inks & cardstock.
Today I had fun using Taylored inks & cardstock along with some Essentials by Ellen dies to test out a technique I've been wanting to try, pressure embossing with dies. I found tips for using my dies to emboss by searching in The CLASSroom and reading this article by Julie:
Here is my card:
To create this card, start by arranging the stamps on a large acrylic block or MISTI. Before stamping, place your dies on the cardstock to help arrange.
Apply ink to some (or all of your dies) by very gently tapping the ink pad onto the die. I found this technique worked best on dies with less solid, open areas so I decided to only ink the smaller dies and use the larger dies without ink.
Next carefully place the dies straight down onto cardstock with an embossing pad underneath. As I learned in Julie's article, the trick to embossing with your dies is finding the right amount of pressure. For my Big Shot Plus, I found the Adaptor B, then a cutting plate, cardstock, dies and then cutting plate worked best for the inky debossed look I was going for.
Next the card needs a sentiment. Stamped and die cut combos are my favorite way to add sentiments to a card and I love that Taylored has them in one set with the One & Only You. "Thankful For" is stamped in my new fav color, Taylored Expressions Earl Grey.
And for the die cut "you", layer 3 die cuts for dimension and top with a coat of matching Nuvo drops. To secure the word while applying the Nuvo, I just placed a piece of painter's tape sticky side up to an acrylic block and then put "you" on top.
Kinda fun right?!
Thanks for stopping by!
xo, Carly
