I don't sew (often). I have a machine, but no space to set it up permanently so ultimately it is usually more hassle to drag it out and set it up to do anything quick, than it is to just stitch something by hand. I used to do embroidery as a girl, tho--somewhere in the storage unit, there is a basket filled with dish towels with hand-embroidered girls in sun bonnets and prairie dresses... *chuckle*
Since we're on the topic of sewing and such this week in the CLASSroom, I thought I'd try my hand at this adorable Plush Hedgehog die by Memory Box!
I think the girlie hedgehog would make an adorable appliqué on a little girl's sweater or sweatshirt--you could do some machine stitching (with invisible thread maybe?) to secure her firmly to the garment! TOTES ADORB, NO?! EEP!!!
I think the combination of hand/embroidery stitching with the die cut shapes really sets off the whimsical fun of this sweet little critter! Oh, hey, add a ribbon to make a bookmark, or add a magnet to the back for some super cute refrigerator art!
And lookie! I made a possum, kinda sorta, too! He really does need a tail, I suppose, to pull off being possum... Hmmmm. Maybe I'll braid some of that craft thread and secure it to his bum! He is a stuffed possum... Watch the video to see with what and why! :)
