Hey there, crafty friends! Lisa here and it's a HUGE day today as we celebrate the new release here at Ellen Hutson LLC! So, it'll be just a little bit different on this #TexturalTuesday as we (well, *I*) want to make sure that the new release gets ALL the mondo, squishy love it deserves. ♥
My card today will be featuring some pretty papers from Pinkfresh Studios Felicity Collection. These papers are very soft and feminine.
Now, I don't normally make "cute" cards. But I am just in loooooove with that little rabbit. I wish it were real so I could hug him.
What I did for this card was quite simple. I die-cut 7 balloons from the Essentials by Ellen Designer Dies Bear Ware by Julie Ebersole out of 7 pieces of the Pinkfresh Studios patterned paper. (A few were repeats.) Then I used the My Sweet Petunia MISTI to stamp the coordinating Bear Ware stamp for the image.
How I do this is a little different than some people. I'm pretty low-tech. I simply use the die cut negative onto the MISTI, use the magnets to hold it into place (maybe some low-tack tape, as well), place the stamp into the negative space FIRST face down (which is how it would stamp), lightly press, NOW it is attached to the acrylic and ready to be inked. Place your die-cut into the negative, ink your stamp and you're ready to go!
You can tell it doesn't matter which negative you use, as long as it's for the same die/stamp combo.
Keep on stampin'! I've never had a problem stamping this way, but there are way fancier ways to use your MISTI. ;)
Once your have the balloons all stamped make an arrangement you like and take a picture with your phone. Seriously. Otherwise you'll forget what you just did. (If you're like me you will.) You'll want to adhere them together slightly overlapping using a quick-dry glue such as Ranger Multi Medium, Matte.
Next, get a nice, healthy length of baker's twine. Coat it in more of the Multi Medium, Matte and let it stew a bit.
You could use this opportunity to get the rest of the card together, if you want. Orrrrr....you could grab a coffee. Up to you. I don't judge.
When the baker's twine is nice and crispy (yep, crispy) it's time to attach it to the back of the balloons as strings. Using a strong adhesive or tape is best. You don't want the string to budge. I used the 3D Foam Squares in Black since I know the adhesive is strong and I'd need the dimension, also.
Once the balloons with strings are in place on the card front, trim the strings. If you have enough length on any of the strings you may use it to make a bow (as I did).
I then stamped, die-cut, and watercolored the cutie-patootie bunny from the Essentials By Ellen Clear Stamps, Bear Ware By Julie Ebersole using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. The bunny's eyes are Black Enamel Accents.
Since my card front is Bristol paper I added a little bit of watercoloring in the upper right hand corner to resemble clouds It's very light, but quite pretty.
To finish things off the sentiment was stamped from Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps, Warm Fuzzies by Julie Ebersole. It was stamped onto Bazzill Black Licorice cardstock and heat embossed using Wow! Super Fine Embossing Powder in Opaque Bright White. I cut the sentiment apart after it was heat set and then I adhered each piece onto a separate piece of vellum. Just for a little interest.
It's a simple card, but super cute, and the balloon strings are so fun! The bunny looks like he's ready for flight.
