Hi All! It's Carly popping in for another #throwbackthursdays, where we find inspiration in The CLASSroom archives!
I've been craving a little "Christmas in July" but I wasn't sure what I wanted to create so naturally I did a "Christmas In July" search in The CLASSroom. A gorgeous card by Julia Stainton using the Essentials by Ellen Mistletoe & Holly set sparked my creativity! Checkout Julia's article:
Die-cutting Cork & a Sneak Peek by Julia Stainton
And here is the card I created:
The cards are pretty different right? In Julia's card I loved the grouping of holiday foliage and I knew that was an element I wanted to include in my card. I also really wanted a Christmas tree so I decided to create garland.
To create this card, start by painting a tree shape on to watercolor cardstock.
I used painter's tape to create a triangle shape on Bristol and Distress inks to watercolor the shape.
Next watercolor various shades of pink, red and green on watercolor paper.
When the watercolor is dry, die cut flowers & foliage. I pulled out many Essentials by Ellen sets to mix & match holly, branches, leaves & flowers so check out your stash and use what you have.
Adhere die cuts to the painted tree in an overlapping garland shape, using foam adhesive to pop some pieces up.
Add a few sequins, a glitter paper trunk and star. And finally a sweet little holiday greeting.
Have a great day!
xo, Carly
