Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. I really enjoy making monochromatic beach scenes and have made a few over the last couple of months. I thought I would share the process with you. Using the same color in different shades on the images and background creates such an interesting scene. The frame was made using the My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames. The images were made using the Impression Obsession Beach Fence, Mini Shell Set, Sea Birds, Tall Grass and Ocean Border.
I chose to use Antique Linen ink for all the different pieces of the scene.
Apply the ink with the ink pad directly to the fence, grass and ground pieces and use a mini applicator for the smaller pieces.
Apply double stick tape to the bottom of the ground layer and attach the second piece.
Apply double stick tape to the back lower portion of the frame and attach the ground pieces.
Mask off the sky area and apply ink to create the water line using an ink blending tool. Remove the mask and apply a much lighter shade to the sky area.
Apply glue to the water line ( I used my finger to spread the glue) and then apply glitter.
Apply glue to the mini shells and apply glitter.
Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach to the scene base.
Bend the fence sections around lightly to make them appear old and weather worn and tuck them in behind the ground layers and attach with glossy accents.
Cut the grass sections apart and tuck them in and attach in front of the fence sections.
Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the mini shells and birds and attach to the card the scene base. Attach the tiny sailboat in the background with a touch of glossy accents.
Here are a couple more similar projects.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. Monochromatic scenes are fun to do and can be done with lots of different images and themes. I’ll look forward to being back next time.
