Hi! Happy Thursday everyone! Carly here for another #throwbackthursdays where we explore awesome ideas & techniques from The Classroom archive. Today I'm taking a little vellum and gold inspiration from one of Julia's amazing cards, see it here:
Vellum and Gold Love by Julia Stainton
Just like Julia said, vellum and gold is a win-win and to add some shine to my vellum flowers I took my new Heidi Swapp Minc Toner Pen for a test drive.
I started by cutting flowers and leaves from vellum using the Essentials by Ellen sets Bohemian Garden and Thankful.
I added some details to the flowers with my toner pen.
Some tips about using the toner pen:
- The tip starts off white and needs to be primed. Once ready the tip will be black.
- The toner pen works better on smooth and glossy surfaces like vellum.
- If your pen skips, try scribbling on a slick surface like a non-stick craft mat.
After adding the toner details to my flowers, I covered the flowers with foil and ran them through my laminator.
Next I repeated my die cutting and foiling with a piece of smooth cardstock that I gave a quick wash of watercolor.
I cut a 2-1/2 square of wood veneer paper and gave it some stripes using Faded Jeans Distress Stain.
I layered my card together starting with a piece of Pinkfresh patterned paper, sprayed with gold. Next I added my striped wood piece, and layered my flowers. And to finish, I embossed my sentiment in white on navy cardstock.
