Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. I have so much fun making cards with whimsical window scenes especially when I can add a few curious cats. My project today was made using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Carolina Window & Shutters, Garden Edges Tulips, Taylored Expressions Bead Board, Impression Obsession Picket Fence, Cat Set, Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 4 and My Favorite Things Fresh Cut Grass.
Attach the embossed layer to the card base using ATG adhesive. Cut two windows, one for the front and one for the inside of the card.
Use the inner border of the die cut window as a template to draw cutting lines on the card front for the window opening.
Cut just a little outside the lines of the window using a craft knife.
Apply mounting tape to the back of the front window and attach over the window opening on the card base.
Use the outer border of the window to draw the cutting line for the window shade.
Cut out the shade and crimp it to add a little dimension.
Open the card to the inside cover and attach the shade with double stick tape over the window.
Apply double stick tape to the back of the second window, line it up with the front window and attach it directly over the shade and window opening.
Cut two tulip borders and cut small portions of each green tulip head off. This step makes it easier to line up and attach the pink tulips so the green won’t show.
Apply glossy accents to each flower and attach the pink tulip.
Attach one tulip border to the grass border with double stick tape. Lightly form the tulips with the stylus and molding pad.
Attach strips of mounting tape to the back of the picket fence and attach to the care base.
Attach strips of mounting tape to the back of the grass and flower border and attach it to the fence. I’m sorry I failed to get a picture of this step.
Cut the second tulip border apart into individual flowers. Tuck the individual flowers around the front border with glossy accents and turning them from side to side which will create a more natural looking flower garden border.
Attach some of the individual flowers together with glossy accents to form a small bouquet. Hand cut two little matching flower pots and attach them to both the front and back side of the bouquet with glossy accents.
Apply a thin strip of double stick tape to the bottom edge of the flower pot and another strip to the middle window frame. Tuck the bottom of the pot in between the two windows and attach the flowers to the tape on the window frame.
Attach double stick tape and mounting tape to the shutters and attach to the card base.
I couldn’t resist adding some kitty cats in the scene. Funny that they look just like my Toby, Sophie and Cassie. They were attached with mounting tape.
I think this is such a sweet scene. This card will be going to my mother-in-law who has been in the hospital for several weeks.
I hope my see thru window card has inspired you to try making one of your own. Thanks for coming by today and I hope you have a great day.
