Hi, everyone -- Sharon back with you today in the CLASSroom, sharing one of my favorite dies from the latest Essentials by Ellen release, the gorgeous Bed of Roses (bold products are linked below in the supply section):
I love all the possibilities of this coverplate die, and different looks you can achieve with it. Today, I decided to watercolor it, and selectively leave all of the die cut pieces inside the roses, but remove the background pieces that are not roses. So after cutting watercolor paper with the die, I made sure to try and leave as many of the pieces in tact as possible:
Next, I used two of my favorite pink Distress Inks to watercolor the roses -- Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry:
I just tapped the ink pads onto an acrylic block, then used a water brush to pick up the ink and color the roses:
Above, you can see some of my die cut rose pieces are missing ... they started falling out as I was watercoloring, but I saved them off to the side to glue back in later. I like using Ranger's Matte Multi Medium to glue these small pieces -- it dries quickly and clear. The watercolored rose die cut was added to a 110 Lb. Solar White card base:
To finish the card, I white heat embossed the beautiful "Thinking of you" sentiment from Mondo Hydrangea onto Bazzill Licorice Twist cardstock, then trimmed it into a flag/banner shape:
The sentiment strip was adhered with foam tape to the cardfront. I like keeping these more general kinds of greeting cards on hand, since they work perfectly for a variety of occasions. Just add an additional appropriate sentiment on the inside of the card, such as "on your birthday" or "in your time of sorrow", etc. Or leave as is, for a perfect "just because" note!
Thanks so much for joining me today . . . Happy weekend!
