We are thrilled to be carrying the Pink Fresh Studio line of products! The name suites this line perfectly - the fresh designs brought squeals of happiness from both Julie and Carissa s at CHA! When they gushed over the embellishments, color tones and projects created with this line I knew without a doubt that you would all love this line as much as we did!
It was a pleasure to be able to meet Taheerah at CHA this past January and chat with her about her passion for paper crafting. Today we are delighted to bring you Taheerah Atchia's happy style as she mixes the Felicity line of stamps and embellishments with a few Crate goodies. You can find Taheerah sharing her artistic talents on the Pinkfresh Studio, Neat and Tangled, and Winnie & Walter teams and filling her blog with inspiring projects.
Head over to fill★your•paper•with•the•breathings•of•your•{Heart}★ and leave some comment love for Taheerah as we thank her for sharing her talents with us here in the CLASSroom. Thank you so much Taheerah for sharing your creative talents with us today! I love all the little details you have incorporated! -Ellen
Hi everyone! I am beyond thrilled and excited to be this month’s Guest Designer on the CLASSroom blog! I’ve been head over heels for the latest Pinkfresh Studio collection, Felicity, and couldn’t wait to combine some of these products with a few others for a fun, fresh look! Pinkfresh Studio products are now being carried by Ellen Hutson and I couldn’t be happier about it!
I created a card that is filled with the joys of Spring:
I wanted to create an ombre effect that was light and bright so I pulled out some Distress Stains. I wanted a very white cardstock and have loved using the Essentials by Ellen Letterpress Paper for watercolouring so I decided to use it here too!
I used the lightest stain, Tattered Rose, first, and laid down a base colour.
I followed up with the Dried Marigold, overlapping some of the Tattered Rose.
Next up, Abandoned Coral, overlapping both colours.
Now the colours look like colour blocking at the moment, which is pretty but not the ombre look I’m after. To achieve that look, I took the Tattered Rose stain and rubbed it over the whole thing again, to get a seamless blend.
Next, I wanted a little stamped detail. I used the flower cluster from the Felicity stamp set to add just that.
These panels are so fun and easy to make that I decided to whip up a whole bunch of them to use another time!
Next up, embellishments! I wanted some bold and stunning flowers to take the main stage on my card and so decided to create my own with papers from the Felicity 6x6 paper pad.
I die cut all the pieces using dies from the Crate Paper Confetti by Maggie Holmes Flowers die set. I threw in some glitter paper too because gold and glitter are my weakness!
I assembled the flowers using a few dabs of Multi Matte Medium on the reverse
and adhered the papers in just a few spots so that the layers could have a bit of dimension
With my flowers assembled, it was time to start pulling the rest of the pieces together. The Felicity collection has some great embellishments, including cardstock die cuts and puffy stickers. I selected some that would coordinate with my design.
I assembled and adhered the pieces to my panel with a bit of dimension so there’d be plenty of added interest. The sentiment is another great embellishment from the Felicity collection – Word/Phrase Stickers, printed on a cotton watercolour stock for a look of watercolour without the mess!
The finished card would probably need to be hand delivered because of all the layers and dimension, but can you imagine the smile on someone’s face when they receive it?!
A couple of hints and tips:
1. The Distress Stains are water-reactive. If they are not blending evenly you can distribute the colour either with a little misting or by going over the colour with a wet paintbrush.
2. When creating a multi-layered, multi-patterned flower, aim for a mix of the pattern sizes. Choosing colours and patterns that will coordinate is a much easier process when you use a collection as the designs have been put together in mind to all go together and take the guesswork out of it for you!
3. Don’t be afraid to mix your supplies from other companies. Here a few sheets of paper from the Crate Paper Confetti by Maggie Holmes collection coordinated perfectly with those from the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity collection!
4. Quality tools matter. I had resisted buying a Teflon bone folder for ages, but it really does make a difference in providing a clean, crisp fold to your card base crease!
I hope you’ve enjoyed your time with me here at the CLASSroom and have learned a couple of tips and tricks from my process. Thank you so much to Ellen for having me – it was truly an honour!
Taheerah xx
