Hi there, Carolyn Peeler with you in the CLASSroom today. I use and send Thank you cards often, so I always need to add them to my stash of 'ready to go' cards. I combined watercolor, dies, sewing, embossing and patterned paper to create today's card. In short, my favorite things! Let's walk through the project together.
First, let's get all our papers in order. All the patterned papers are from the Journey 6x6 paper pad by Crate Paper. Then, we used Bazzill cardstock in Candy Hearts and Chocolate Malt. Finally, you'll want to use your favorite watercolor paper and create a wash of blue watercolor onto it. One quick tip: I often paint several backgrounds at one time and let them airdry. Then, when I want a watercolor background I just turn to my stash to see what color options I have available. Turning to my stash is what I did for today's project and I found this pretty blue which coordinated nicely with the other colors I planned to use in the card.
I cut the pink cross paper 4.25" x 5.5", which is the same size as my card front. Then I glued the rest of the paper into position, and trimmed them to size, as seen on the photo below.
Next, you'll want to gather your supplies for the stamping. You'll want a Versamark stamp pad, Princess Gold embossing powder by Ranger, a heat tool, the "Fancy Thanks" stamp set by Ellen Hutson Essentials and an embossing static remover.
First, stamp the Thank you sentiment with versamark onto the watercolor paper. This impression will be the shadow to the part you emboss in the next step. The ink needs to be completely dry before the next step so I recommend heat setting it, then waiting overnight. If you don't have time to wait, then heat set it really well so that the ink is completely dry.
Once the ink is dry, stamp the sentiment once again with versamark, this time offsetting it slightly. Once stamped, you will heat emboss it with the Princes Gold Ranger embossing powder which is such a pretty color!
Using the Lawn Fawn Hearts die cut, cut 3 hearts out of Candy Hearts cardstock by Bazzill. Glue these hearts across the bottom of the card.
Using a sewing machine, sew a zig zag line down the front of the card where the Chocolate Malt cardstock meets the patterned papers, and another straight stitch down the center area of the same cardstock strip.
The final step is assembly of the card. Using Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut a piece 8.5" wide x 5.5" high. Next, fold it in half so that it is 4.25" wide x 5.5" high. You can now glue the card front onto this white cardstock card base.
When finished, your card will look a little something like this:
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help. Have a great day!
