Happy Friday, everyone -- Sharon here in the CLASSroom today! I've admired this sweet Happy Birthday To You die from Little B for quite some time and finally added it to my stash -- I love interactive/different card openings!
I wanted to make the die a little more versatile, so I changed it up a bit for Valentine's Day, to create this card
(All bold products are linked below in the supply section):
The Birthday die makes a sweet 2.50" square tri-fold card (the full die cut is shown below in black) but I wanted to extend the height a little, and make a taller card so more of my stamped background would be featured. In order to accomplish this, first I die cut the words from Bazzill Licorice Twist cardstock:
Next, I cut two pieces of Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock to 4.75" tall X 7.50" long (the length of the die) and notched them at the top (you can barely see my pencil marks on the white cardstock in the photo below), so the die cut words would stick out of the top. The black die cut words will be sandwiched between the two white card panels.
Then I stamped the front white panel with all the different sayings from Julie's Love You So Essentials by Ellen stamp set, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The images were colored with R24 and R83 Copic markers and the arrow stamped separately with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink. Next, the card was adhered together with a good, strong Tombow Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive and scored at 2.50" and 5", to create the tri-fold:
For the heart accent, I used Essentials by Ellen Folk Heart die to cut Bazzill Peppermint cardstock and stamped it with the black arrow. The Birthday die set includes a separate Birthday word die, so it can be cut separately and used as an accent. I cut it from gold foil cardstock and adhered it over the black Day die cut word.
Here are a few more views of the card, partially open:
And fully open:
By sandwiching the black die cut words between the two white panels, the back of the card is left all white and finished off nicely, where you can write a personal message:
I love stretching (literally in this case!) my dies, to make them more versatile! Now I can still use this die for a sweet birthday notecard, throughout the rest of the year!
