I adore the HUGE variety of dies that Ellen carries in the shop ... I could make cards for days from just dies -- and I did! :)
This card's main focus, I think, is the wonderful "Love You" Picture Perfect-Valentine stitched word frame from Taylored Expressions. This pretty die is meant to be a scrapbooking photo frame, but does great double-duty as a card layer! I die cut it from Bazzill Peppermint cardstock and then layered these darling Skinny Mini Valentine Borders, die cut from Bazzill Candy Hearts, Licorice Twist, and Peppermint cardstock on top of the frame:
The Essentials by Ellen Folk Heart was done by first die cutting the rose from the Essentials by Ellen Wild Garden die set, from Bazzill Candy Hearts cardstock, adhering it to another piece of Candy Hearts cardstock, then die cutting the rose with the heart die. This gives the heart a pretty lacy floral embossed look!
To enhance the rose, I colored it with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Marker:
TIP: When die cutting a very intricate and thin die, such as this rose, from thick cardstock like the Bazzill 100 lb cardstock, use a Metal Adaptor Plate in your die cutting sandwich, to increase pressure and ensure good clean cuts.
To finish this sweet Valentine, I decided to keep the card flat and just adhered the frame to a piece of Neenah 110 lb. Solar White cardstock, die cut from My Favorite Things Blueprints 20 large scalloped rectangle . . . Nothing says "Valentine" quite like scallops, right? At least in my mind it does! :) The pink Folk Heart was popped up on X-Press It Foam Tape.
I hope this project helps you to think about layering several different die cuts, to achieve a totally different look from your dies!
