Happy New Year! Happy 2016! Let's kick off the year with a card featuring something we can all use a little more of...LOVE. It may seem like we are hopping from one holiday to the next but I thought that a classic card full of love is never amiss.
Today my card design features the Folk Heart Die set from the Essentials by Ellen line. I love this set and I've used it lots before but I never run out of ideas for it so I hope you'll enjoy this one! It's a simple, white on white card with just a tiny bit of color added with with sponged ink. Let me show you how I created it...
First of all I die cut all three sizes of the hearts from Solar White card stock. The larger two are set aside for the moment and I created a fun shimmery accent using the smallest die layer. It's covered with some gorgeous sequin trim from Maya Road. I love this trim and it comes in more colors that I've linked below in the supplies, just in case you're interested. This trim is a GREAT way to add sequins easily to a project. Start at the outside and use a liquid adhesive or hot glue and adhere the sequins working in small segments as you go towards the center. Simply clip off the excess trim for another project. And there you have a beautiful custom embellishment that you can enjoy on anything.
Next up I layered the hearts together with 3D foam tape and added on a felt rose embellishment.
I love tags and they always make a beautiful layer on a card front. To add in some subtle color (and I didn't even need another color of card stock!) I sponged on some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink starting from the center of the panel and working in a circular motion towards the edges. Adhere this tag to your background card front and layers, then adhere the heart layers to the card. Finish off the tag with a vintage button adhered to the top of the tag.
I love little charms and add-ons and these heart charms from Tim Holtz caught my eye in the shop. They come with little pre-cut stickers that you can choose from to create your heart charms.
I chose "all my heart", added the sticker and the sticker epoxy heart to complete the charm.
Adhere the charm to the heart layers, add in a little bow of jute twine and a little pin if desired.
You're left with a pretty and sweet Valentine that would even work as a beautiful wedding card!
Thanks for joining me in the CLASSroom today! May you have a beautiful year of joy, health and creativity!
