Hey there! Welcome to Day 9 of Ellen’s amazing 12 tags of Christmas! I love this series emphasizing a feminine twist and how fun are all these different takes! Today I’m here with a fun sketch and the incredibly talented Melania Deasy.
(For complete challenge information head to this post.)
I went with more of a loose interpretation of it. :)
To start, I die cut a tag shape. I love using non-tag dies to create tags. It’s fun to look through a stack of dies and brainstorm possibilities! Plus, it’s a great way to stretch your stash. I decided to use this die to create my tag shape and then used the inside pierced banner as the square in my sketch.
Next, I started on some snowdrifts. I cut my forward-most snowdrift from white cardstock.
Then, I decided to make a white glittery snowdrift. Instead of keeping an endless supply of glitter cardstock on hand, I’ve realized it’s really fun to make my own glitter paper. To do this I just use Scor-Tape and glitter.
Once I had the Scor-Tape adhered, I die cut it out of the tag shape and also a snow drift.
Then, I piled on the glitter!
It's so sparkly and pretty in real life! I love how easy this is and a great way to really add umpf and custom glitter to your designs!
For my last line of the sketch, I decided to add a mountain in the background, using the new Avery Elle Snow Caps dies.
Here it is put together. Now I can get started on that focal image!
Finally, I am ready to add my focal image – a sweet little dear. I stamped her in Memento and colored with Copics.
I love how sweet this little dear is!
Lastly, I stamped and heat embossed asentiment curved along the line of the snow drift and adhered the top snowdrift to my card.
Here are all the layers assembled.
To create the tag, I simply punched a hole through the die cut banner and added some ribbon and twine.
Ta-da!!! Thank you so much for spending part of your day with me. Enjoy reading more about Melania below and have a great day!
XOXO,
Heather
