Welcome to day 4 of the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015! I love creating for this CLASSroom feature each holiday season. It's truly amazing how many different and unique ways you can create a holiday tag.
In choosing a theme for today's challenge I decided to be inspired by snowflakes. I always love seeing them outside my window over the holidays and on crafting projects as well. Is anyone else hoping for a white Christmas this year?
(For complete challenge information head to this post.)
To create my wintery white tag I've paired up some stunning My Favorite Things Stamps dies and the Essentials by Ellen Merry & Bright Die set to create a sweet wintery scene. I'm always inspired by Paris but even more so lately. A snowy Paris scene makes a great focal point.
To start off the project I die cut Solar White cardstock and Craft-a-board with the largest tag from the Traditional Tags STAX die set and then adhered the two layers together. Craft-a-board is a heavy chipboard material that is great for diecutting. I love how it adds so much stability to the back of the tag.
The next step is to create the center circular layer on the tag front. It requires a little die cutting finesse but it's really not that hard to do. First die cut two Paris Skyline Die-namics from Solar White cardstock leaving some extra space at the bottom of each die cut.
Layer them one over the other and adhere to a piece of white cardstock. Do NOT place adhesive on the top section of the Eiffel Tower area. Layer the Double Stitched Circle Die over the scene to make sure it is placed over the layers.
Slide the top of the Eiffel Tower over the top of the circle die so that it will not be cut off. Die cut the circle.
Die cut a Pinking Edge Circle from Silver Glitter Paper. Adhere to back of circle scene. Sponge all edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink for a vintage look. Die cut merry sentiment from Merry & Bright die set and adhere to front of circle panel.
To create the colored snowfall dots on the tag base, use the Snowfall Stencil and lightly sponge on Sea Glass and Thistle Ink. Allow to dry, then adhere circle onto tag with 3D foam square.
Add glitter to the Eiffel Tower by painting the tower area with Ranger Matte Multi Medium and then applying clear glitter while wet.
Finish off the tag by adhering die cut snowflakes around the tag. Adhere clear sequins with Glossy Accents and tiny charms with twine and hot glue.
Thanks so much for joining us as we celebrate creativity and wrapping up Christmas! I hope you'll be inspired to create your own holiday tags!
Designing for My Favorite Things, Reverse Confetti, PaperTrey Ink, Taylored Expressions, Penny Black and Pink Ink Stamps, Kay Miller is an incredibly busy designer. We are super excited that Kay was able to join us for our special event this year in our Day 4 snowflake challenge featuring My Favorite Things and Essentials by Ellen! Her tag is so delightful, artistically bringing together the snowflakes, greenery and sweet flower. The snowy background tag adds yet more depth as do the sweet sequins and silver ribbons. Thank you, Kay, your snowflake tag is stunning!
