Hi! Carly here and I'm so excited to be joining you for Day 10 of The 12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist! I feel extra lucky to not only be creating my first tag in The 12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist tradition but the amazing & talented Kelly Alvarez from Lawn Fawn is my partner today! Today we both created tags based on this sketch:
(For complete challenge information head to this post.)
I used some of my favorite Lawn Fawn and Essentials by Ellen goodies to create this:
1. I started by cutting a 3-1/4 x 6-1/4 tag from my favorite cardstock, Smooth Bristol.
2. I wanted to watercolor the circular background shown in the sketch but I wanted them to look like circles, lol, so I used some of my Lawn Fawn circle dies as guides. I used Distress ink Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio.
3. I stamped the Lawn Fawn Yeti in VersaFine Oynx Black. Then I colored his body with a Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker in Cool Gray 099, blending with a waterbrush.
4. I colored my Yeti's face, hands and feet with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker in Light Blue 036, blending with a waterbrush.
5. I watercolored my Yeti's mouth with Distress ink Abandoned Coral.
6. Then I thought my Yeti needed a little glam so I put a little Stickles Star Dust onto my non-stick craft sheet and applied it to his body with a waterbrush. You could also apply Stickles directly from the bottle but I like the control the waterbrush gives me.
7. To create my little trees I stamped them in Stazon Jet Black on Crystal Clear Plastic. Then I used alcohol inks to watercolor them. The technique is super easy - you put drops of alcohol ink into a palette and allow it to air dry. Then you use the Alcohol Ink Blending Pen to color on the backside of the plastic (you can also use a waterbrush filled with Blending Solution. For the trees I used Botanical and Bottle Alcohol inks.
8. I stamped ear muffs from the Lawn Fawn Yeti Set Go set in Versafine Onyx Black and colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker in Light Violet 081.
9. I used the Yeti Set Go coordinating dies to die cut all of my stamped & colored pieces - my Yeti, ear muffs and trees.
10. I created the cord snowflakes on my tag by punching holes and threading Lawn Fawn Hemp Cord in Aquamarine, through the holes. Super easy!
11. I added a few itty bitty stamped snowflakes in Cracked Pistachio Distress ink and a sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen Merry & Bright stamp set.
12. Then assembled the pieces of my tag.
We are honored to have Kelly Alvarez, owner of Lawn Fawn, joining us again this year! Kelly's cheerful, bright nature comes across in every single one of her creations! The no-line coloring Kelly features using the sweet little fawn wearing her festive hat takes center stage (or in this case, center drift). Inspiration is in abundance on the Lawn Fawn blog and "no matter how you slice it" there is always loads of excitement to be shared there.
Thank you Kelly for sharing your sweet tag and inspiring us with your creativity!
