Christmas crafting season is in full swing. It's time to deck the halls, create the cards and enjoy every crafty minute of the most wonderful time of the year. Today I'm sharing a holiday card with lots of gold glam touches and some beautiful four step stamping. What's four step stamping? Well, it's just like two or three step stamping only there are four impressions to get the full image. It's a whole lot easier than you might think and the added dimension this type of stamping adds is seriously amazing.
Today I'm using the new Taylored Expressions Simply Stamped Pinecones stamp set and die set. Some of the images such as the sentiments and the greenery are a single image but the gorgeous pinecone images are seriously stunning by adding in four layers of color.
Here's a little sample to show you how it works. The bottom (and most solid image) is the base and where you start. I've used four different inks. First impression is Antique Linen, second impression is in Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, third impression is in Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and the final highlights are stamped in a gorgeous gold ink, the Golden Glitz Delicata Pad. This is one of the most beautiful gold inks ever! You can see how adding in each impression adds more detail and depth to the pinecones.
If you turn the paper to catch the light that gold layer really sparkles and adds a great festive touch.
Once all the pinecones are stamped, I cut apart the pinecone dies and individually die cut each stamped images from the Solard White cardstock sheet.
To create the background I started off with a white cardstock layer. Distress Inks make gorgeous background and this one was created by...
- Stamping the greenery in shades of Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress Inks.
- Sponging in ink starting from the outside and working inwards in Tumbled Glass. I finished up with a tiny bit of Broken China along the edges.
- Using the Speckles Stencil from Tim Holtz, sponge background with Crushed Olive. Move stencil slightly and sponge again with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink.
- Flip the stencil and then sponge with Golden Glitz to add in the gold highlights.
Once the background was finished I adhered it to make background layers and then added in the stamped pinecone die cuts with 3D foam squares. I absolutely adore the Merry and Bright Dies from the Essentials by Ellen collection. It's a gorgeous font of fine script and die cut from gold glitter cardstock makes a quick wow statement.
Thanks for joining me today in the CLASSroom. Enjoy your holiday crafting and don't forget to try something new!
