Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. I have a clean and simple Christmas card to share with you today using the new Impression Obsession Gift Border die. My favorite color combination for holiday cards is red, green and white and I thought this border of gifts would be perfect against an all white background. They would look perfectly fine with no embellishments but a little evergreen foliage just kicks it up a notch.
I punched out several pieces of evergreen using my Martha Stewart Branch Punch. I thought while I was at it I would share with you how I maintain my punches to keep them sharp.
Cut a piece of foil about four inches wide, fold it in fourths, smooth it out and insert it into your punch and punch out branches all the way across the strip. This process will sharpen the punch.
Next cut and fold up a four inch wide piece of waxed paper and repeat the same process. The waxed paper will wax the punch and help create smooth punching. I use this process in between every use.
Parts and pieces of the project.
Cut and crimp the white layer and attach it to the red layer using ATG adhesive or double stick tape.
Cut several branch pieces apart into tiny individual sections.
Attach two sprigs to the bow of each gift with glossy accents.
Attach one 1/8” punched circle to the top of each branch section with glossy accents.
Cut the top three sections off of several branches and attach them with glossy accents all the way across the base of the gift border.
Apply double stick tape to the back of the crimped layer and attach it to the base of the gift border to cover the raw edges of the branches.
Apply mounting tape to the back of the gifts and crimped layer and attach it to the card base.
The gifts would look cute if each were covered with different holiday designer paper. They could also be cut apart and used individually or layered on a project.
What a perfect die to use to make birthday cards for any age.
Thanks for coming by the CLASSroom today.
