Hi! It's Carly and I'm here with another #throwbackthursday!
Chalkboard is a look I always love, I think it's just charming & fun! When I wanted to create a chalkboard card, I knew that the awesome Classroom designers would have lots of cool techniques to help me. I searched "chalkboard" in the Classroom and I found the great articles below.
Chalkboard Technique by Sharon Harnist
Hello, Monday 10.07.2013 with Heather Campbell
Armed with ample inspiration and tips on how to create a chalkboard look, I created this holiday card:
1. I started with a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Black Licorice cardstock and stamped the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamp Mondo Poinsettia with Lawn Fawn Pigment Ink Yeti (white).
2. While my white ink was drying, I die cut my sentiment with Impression Obsession Dies, Season's Greetings from silver glitter paper. The die is very intricate so the extra pressure of the Metal Adaptor Plate was very helpful. Then I customized my "Season's" by cutting off the apostrophe & s, and I set aside my "Greetings" for another project.
3. Once my stamped image was dry, I traced over the poinsettia with a Kirarina Wink White Pearl Pen. And then I let that dry.
4. Then I added more Kirarina Wink White Pearl Pen but only in the middle of the poinsettia petals & on a few edges and I smudged the ink with my finger as I applied it.
5. To finish my card, I trimmed 1/4" from my Licorice panel. Then I used a sentiment from the Essentials by Ellen Clear Stamps Merry & Bright set, which I performed a little stamp surgery on so it could stack horizontally. I paired the stamped "Wishing You A Very Merry" with my previously die cut "Season".
6. I cut a 1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of red diagonal stripe from the Lawn Fawn Let's Bokeh In The Snow and adhered it to a Solar White 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card. Then I added my Licorice panel. And finished with some black & white twine and tiny jingle bells from the Basic Grey Juniper embellishment pack.
