Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. Have you checked out the wonderful new Memory Box die release? There are so many wonderful scenery dies. When I saw the Country Fence Oval Frame I instantly thought of the childhood holiday song ”Over The River and Through The Woods” and knew it would be fun creating a winter scene with it. I framed the scene using the My Favorite Things Pierced Oval Frames and added scenery using the Memory Box Small Forest Archway and Impression Obsession Fir Trees. When I had completed the scene I felt something was missing and added one small deer from the Memory Box Valley Deer Trio.
I cut and gathered all the pieces that you see in the picture below but wasn’t sure if or how I would use all of it. I wish I could tell you that I always begin a project with an organized plan but I don’t. I usually start with a main image like the country scene die and then mix and match adding elements as I go.
The first thing I did was cut a piece of scrap cardstock to use as a water section behind the scene. I wanted the river to appear frozen and sparkly.
Apply glossy accents to the cardstock and apply glitter. Set aside to dry.
Apply adhesive to the back of the oval frame and attach it to the country fence die.
Cut the top portion of the country frame off as it is a little smaller than the top oval frame.
Apply adhesive to the back of the country frame, line it up over the blue water section and attach.
Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach to the card base.
Apply double stick tape to the back of the trees. Not showing in the picture below is that I added a couple thin strips of mounting tape to the top portion of the tree trunks to make them stand away from the base.
Tuck the trees in behind the fence and ground areas and attach to the base.
Apply small strips of mounting tape to the two larger trees and rolled up glue dots to the smallest tree and attach in the scene.
The tiny deer was attached with a small piece of mounting tape and the feet were glued to the frame with glossy accents.
I had originally cut one section of the Impression Obsession Wide Tree but didn’t think I would use it. when I finished adding both sets of trees I thought the opening between the two tall trees looked a little empty. I cut a few branch sections of the Wide Tree and tucked them in front of both tall trees. The pieces are barely noticeable but add just enough branches to close the gap.
Thank you for coming by today. I hope you have been inspired to try making your own Over The River and Through The Woods holiday card.
