The gap on the front panel is one of the easiest stand-by layouts I have in my arsenal, but this time I wanted to add a dimensional effect. I think it's a lovely way to give a design like this just a little extra specialness.
I love how easy it also is to blend the Avery Elle pigment inks directly on the stamp image using sponge daubers. I think I have a gazillion of 'em... One for each color family of ink means I rarely ever have to wash them. :)
Altho I am not a fan of purple, I do love how these particular shades of it look with the Bamboo ink.
Pre-trimming the top panel to allow for the gap really helps (me) when planning out the spacing and positioning of the stamp images--I had to laugh when I was talking with another paper crafter about my idiosyncrasies--I'm a Type A stamper; everything has to be precision placed for the perfect balance and flow on my card layouts and I envy those who can just fly by the seat of their pants, slapping things down and in the end it all turns out fantastic! Whenever I try that, I typically end up with crap and have to start over.
