Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the Taylored Expressions Garden Arbor and Gate and Arbor Accessories sets when they were first released. I have had such fun with these dies and thought I would share a step by step of how I use them in a scene. For today’s project I paired them with the Impression Obsession Grass Border, Small Grass Border, Reading Tree and Butterfly Set. The designer paper background is from Beau Jardin.
Here is a shot of all the pieces I used for the project. The only thing missing is the trees and butterflies which I applied to the scene as an afterthought.
Shape the tiny flowers and vine leaves using the small stylus tip and molding pad from Susan’s Garden Tool Kit.
Assemble the arbor and gate and attach the tiny gate hinges and handle using glossy accents. The tweezers make this a a much easier task.
Gently curve the handle by bending around the tip of the tweezers before attaching it to the gate. Apply a drop glossy accents to the tip top and bottom of the handle to attach.
Attach the fence sections to the arbor with glossy accents, apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the arbor and fence sections and attach to the card base.
Attach the tiny flowers to the grass tips and vines with glossy accents.
Apply glossy accents to several key areas on the back of the vines and attach to the arbor.
Apply glossy accents to the grass sections and attach to the bottom of the fence. I failed to mention earlier that I attached a section of the Small Grass Border to the card base before attaching the arbor and fence so grass would show on the inside the open gate.
Cut the Reading Tree into two smaller sections and apply the tiny flowers with glossy accents. Tuck the trunks of the tree sections in behind the grass and attach to the fence with glossy accents. Attach a couple tiny rolled glue dots in behind key areas of the branches to attach securely to the card base.
Prop the gate open by placing a thin doubled up strip of mounting tape right under the picket where the hinges are.
Finish by attaching a few fluttering butterflies with glossy accents.
I think the open arbor gate is such a sign of a warm welcoming invitation.
I hope you have been inspired to create your own garden arbor scene. Thanks for coming by and I’ll look forward to next time.
