If you didn't get a chance to see the latest Essentials by Ellen release you gotta check it out! The stamps and dies are fab. Insanely fabulous! Today's card uses the new Mondo Magnolia stamp set.
Sigh, this set is a beauty!
To start my card out, I did something I rarely ever do - I stamped the sentiment first! This helps with the placement of the flowers later on.
Then, I stamped the mondo magnolia in Memento Elderberry. This is a gorgeous deep purple and works great with Copics!
I went in first with the darkest color of Copic for the underside of the petals.
Then I added a lighter shading to the inside of the flowers - just helps fill in some of the white space. I had planned to color all of these flowers in but I loved the striking result as is so I left it. (I love it when I use restraint and stop when I'm ahead of the game!)
In preparation for adding some splatter, I masked everything with scrap paper. I didn't want any splatter ending up on my petals or a glob on my sentiment! Ask me how I learned this trick... :)
To create my splatter, I simply mixed the gold watercolor and flicked my paintbrush! This is one of my favorite techniques for stretching your stash and these Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors work perfectly for this technique!
Here's the big reveal once I removed the masking!
With my main panel complete, I can get to work on the card base! I adhered a strip of black and white striped patterned paper from the Avery Elle Neutral Collection 6x6 pad. This pad = AMAZING!
Finally, I secured it to the card. I love the striking contrast!
Lastly, because everything is better with sequins - I added a few of those too! YAY for sequins!
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing part of your day with me! I hope you have a great day!
XOXO, Heather
