Happy Good Friday to you all! I've had this idea in my head for this awesome Wish Big stamp set by Ms. Julie and finally took the time to try it out. Unfortunately, I was having too much fun and forgot to snap photos along the way (please forgive me!). But honestly, this was SO quick and easy to stamp ... WITHOUT any masking! I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Copic X-Press It Blending Card (all bold products are linked below in the supply section):
This cute bird is very easy to stamp one on top of another ... the clear stamps make that possible.
For the layers of cake, I just didn't ink the very top rounded part of the cake (stamp omitting) for the bottom two stampings, then inked the full cake for the top layer:
The candles the birds are holding were just as easy to NOT ink the bottom length of the candle, when needing shorter candles.
After stamping, I loosely and quickly colored the bird wings and beaks with these colors of Copic Sketch Markers: RV63, Y06, YR02, YG03, BG01, and BV02.
TIP: Keeping the ending numbers of your Copic markers within relatively close proximity (1-3 on most of the colors I used) ensures your colors will coordinate and look good together.
The background wings were shadowed with C1. The cake was colored with E41 and E42 (as was the "ground"). The chocolate frosting between the layers was colored with E44.
Clear Wink of Stella was added to the candles, frosting, and "BIG" sentiment. You can see all the shimmer when the card is turned towards the light:
To finish the card, I trimmed the stamped panel to about 5.25" x 4", rounded the bottom corners with 1/8" Corner Chomper and adhered the panel to a top folding Bazzill Licorice Twist card base.
I hope you'll give this birthday card a try, for any upcoming "big" birthdays you may have!
