Hi everyone and HAPPY SATURDAY! Wahooo! I can't get enough of the new Winter 2015 Essentials by Ellen release - especially the hippo in the new Wish Big set. Eep, he's cute!
For today's card, I thought it would be fun to get back to basics with a simple masking technique!
With the hippo stamped, it's time to stamp the balloons. To stamp the balloons, I used the same masking technique as above with the hippo and the party hat!
First, I stamped the balloons in the front.
Then, I covered the balloon with a "mask" and stamped the balloon behind it.
Then I covered all the balloons with a mask again.
And I stamped the last balloon that appears behind all of the other balloons! Nifty trick and a way to take one simple stamp and make a big statement with it!
With my scene ready to go - it's time to color it all in with Copics!
Once I'm done with the hippo and the balloons, I can do the hat!
Then I can stamp the sentiment and add some balloon strings.
I made the strings lighter to keep the focus on the sentiment and scene!
I decided the hat needed a few white accents so I used my Uni-ball white gel pen to embellish the hat!
Then, I masked everything again to add some spatter behind my images. Here's a tip - you can use a clean stamp as a mask!
To create my spatter - I just used my Distress Ink and combined it with water. Then I just flicked my paint brush to get the perfect amount of spatter!
Then, I trimmed my panel down to 4x5.25 and mounted it to a card base. Along the bottom 2" of the card base, I adhered a new Avery Elle patterned paper in the black & white stripe!
Last by not least, I added sequins because sequins are appropriate always!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
XOXO, Heather
