Wooowhoooo what a week! It's exciting behind the scenes this week. There's a new Essentials by Elle (by Julie) stamp and die release and it is phenomenal. I had hoped to share a sneak of my project here today - long story, check back soon!
It feels like spring these days but just doesn't mean I have to stop playing with these adorable Mama Elephant penguins. I just love them so much and I thought it would be fun to put them to use in a non-wintery way! For this card, I used a tag shape to create a focal point.
First, I stamped the penguins on my card front.
Then, to create the blue sky background, I masked them with a piece of post it paper. I simply stamped the image on the post it paper and then trimmed it out to fit.
To create the horizon, I used some more masking paper and adhered that right along the bottom of the penguins.
Then I blended the background. I used to struggle with blending backgrounds but these little mini blending tools really work great!
Once the masks are pulled off - it's amazing how much the white masked areas pop from the page!
Then, to give the sky some shimmer, I masked the white areas again and added a healthy dose of Perfect Pearls Shimmer mist!
Pretty huh!?!
Then I stamped a sentiment right along the bottom.
Since I used my Hero Arts dye ink, I had to be extremely careful to add color to the penguins.
To frame the focal images, I used a Pretty Pink Posh tag die to create a tag.
Now, I adhered the base layer (without the tag) to the card with adhesive.
Then, in the negative space, I used dimensional adhesive to pop the tag up off the card base.
Next trick, huh?
Then I adhered sequins to the surround of the tag.
And finished it off with a silver twine bow.
Pretty and so fun and fresh. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great day!
