Hello, happy Friday and since this is my first post of the new year, Happy 2015! Have you seen Ellen and Julie's CHA antics over on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook? They've been taking Ranger classes today and inspired me to get inky and go vintage! So here' s today's project:
I set out to create a custom background paper by using My Favorite Things Sheet Music Background. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Desert Storm cardstock:
Next, I stamped two sizes of of MFT's Damask Designs with Versamark into the background and clear heat embossed them. Then I used Copic R24 Sketch Marker in my Copic Airbrush Starter Set 1N (which you can use wither without or with Sparmax Airbrush Compressor) and lightly airbrushed around the damask embossed images.
NOTE: Alternately, if you don't have the airbrush system, you can sponge dye ink (such as Distress Ink) around the embossed image.
Above, you can see the top left corner's three damask images where I then started to lightly take the Copic ink off the clear embossing by using a cotton swab dampened with Copic Colorless Blender Solution. All the other damask images show what the Red Copic ink looks like on the clear embossed images -- it is your preference if you want to leave or remove it. I chose to remove it this time, so the damask image would appear softer.
Next, the pretty MFT Birthday Sentiment was stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink onto Neenah Classic Cream cardstock and die cut with MFT Fishtail Flags Layers Die-namics, then machine stitched with gold thread. The outer edges of the sentiment banner were sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink and a 1" Round Ink Blending Tool.
To finish the card, I die cut a pretty Hybrid Camellia Flower from Bazzill Red Hots (darker red used for outer flower petals) and Peppermint (lighter red, used for the flower center) Card Shoppe Cardstock. You can find a video tutorial on how to assemble the flower on the product page here. A Quilling Tool is your secret weapon to make rolling the center portion easy!
The flower and banner were popped up on Copic X-Press It Foam Tape and the background adhered to a card base of Bazzill Peppermint cardstock.
Thanks so much for joining me today -- I hope you are able to get inky this weekend, too! ~ Sharon
