We're counting down the days til Christmas! How about you? Today I'm in a festive mood and have created a couple more Christmas cards to share with you. I hope they bring you some holiday joy!
Today's projects are all about using one stamp and one die set and creating with them in two different styles. I love the flexibiliy of creating and especially love investing in product that can be used in many different ways and styles. If you're anything like me, you too love a) great value b) high quality and c) exploring your creativity in many different ways. I just wouldn't want to be pigeon-holed into creating in one style each and every time!
My first design approach uses a clean and crisp modern style. This is a great style for any time but especially the holidays. Keeping it clean and simple makes designing and mass-producing quicker. It also cuts down on postage as the cards tend to be less bulky.
I've used the Taylored Expressions Shiny & Bright stamp set and Shiny & Bright die set to create this design along with some beautiful Avery Elle pigment inks.
- Create 4.25" x 4.25" white card base using Solar White cardstock.
- Emboss 4" square piece of white cardstock using embossing folder. Adhere to card base with 3D foam squares.
- Stamp ornaments on white cardstock using colored pigment inks. Die cut with coordinating dies and adhere to card using 3D foam squares.
- Adhere Mirrored Stars as accents.
For my next design, I've used the exact same dies and stamps from Taylored Expressions and the same inks and colors as well. By adding in some stitching, distressing and lots of layers, you get a totally different look to the exact same images.
- Create 4.25" x 5.5" card base from white cardstock.
- Adhere 4" x 5.25" piece of text patterned paper.
- Adhere 3.25" x 4.5" piece of pink patterned paper. Stitch layers as desired.
- Stamp Library Card stamp onto white cardstock. Trim and adhere.
- Adhere kraft tag to white cardstock leaving excess around edges. Trim with pinking shears. Adhere to card front using 3D foam squares.
- Stamp ornaments on white cardstock using colored pigment inks. Die cut with coordinating dies and adhere to card using 3D foam squares.
- Tie tinsel trim into a bow and adhere.
- Ink wood bingo piece with pink ink by rubbing surface onto ink pad. Adhere.
- Adhere mirrored star accent.
Note: to add to the vintage/shabby chic look, sponge edges of all paper layers with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.
Which project did you like the best? Are you a "pile it on crafter" or a "less is more girl"? The beauty of it is that you can be both depending on how you feel that day. Enjoying creativity is a wonderful thing. A gift!
Thanks for joining me today in the CLASSroom! Wishing you and yours a wonderful (and creative) Christmas and holiday season!
