Hello and welcome to Day 10 of Ellen Hutson's 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist. I love this series because it always pushes me to think outside of the usual red, aqua and green that I tend to navigate to at Christmas. I created a fun shaker tag for you today!
First, I started out my tag by cutting my tag base and frame.
I made my own frame using two different rectangle dies. I simply cut the large rectangle first and then cut the smaller rectangle second.
To get the perfect size of rectangle, I used the same die cut to cut the clear cardstock for the shaker front.
Then, I die cut my cityscape and adhered it to the front of the clear cardstock. I could have adhered it behind but I didn't want any sequins getting stuck in between the cityscape and clear cardstock layers.
Here is the tag "front" all assembled.
Which means it is time to start on the inside of the tag.
On the base layer, I stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder a very fun Avery Elle Joy to the World sentiment that makes the perfect moon!
Slowly I added more and more color to create an ombre pink background.
Because I couldn't get the pink dark enough - I went in with the same technique and used an Avery Elle pigment ink pad - it worked perfectly!
To add shimmer, I spritzed the entire front with Perfect Pearls mist (I love this stuff!) and then stamped Santa and his reindeer flying across the sky! Since Santa and his reindeer are designed in a different curve I simply bent the stamp and positioned it to a different curve on my acrylic block. This is yet another reason why I love of a good quality clear photopolymer stamp!
With my two layers assembled, it's time to pull it together. Now is the time to punch a hole in this little tag! (I didn't capture a picture of that because it took two hands but you'll see the hole in the next step!)
First, on the back of the clear layer, cover the back of the frame with foam adhesive. It's a really good idea to make sure there's no room for any sequins or shaker bits to escape!
Next up - add sequins! Here's a tip: Make sure the inside is free of any fingerprints first! ...ask me how I know! :)
Remove the backing revealing the sticky foam surface and bring the back right down onto the front and stick it together!
To finish my tag off, I've added a reinforcer and tied a fun, coordinating silver bow onto my tag.
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing in the fun with me. Have a great day!
