I am delighted to be sharing a tag in the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist series. I look forward to this series all year!
The inspiration for my tag comes from something you might see in a children’s holiday book. Picture a snowy bank in the woods. There’s just one evergreen tree lit against the dark sky. It’s quiet with the exception of snow occasionally falling from tree branches. Under the one lit tree, Santa has left packages wrapped in red and green.
To begin, I cut Bazzill Candy Pearls Cardstock with the Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplates die. I also cut a tag from Neenah Heavyweight Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.
I stamped the white tag with VersaMark Ink with a sentiment from the Taylored Expressions Deck the Halls set using the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line up the sentiment. I heat embossed the sentiment with Ranger Super Fine Silver Embossing Powder.
I cut the snowy banks with two of the dies in Taylored Expressions Rolling Hills die set.
I cut the evergreen tree with the tree die in the Taylored Expressions Sparkle and Cheer die set from Bazzill Caramel Apple cardstock to which I had adhered a panel of Be Creative Sheet Adhesive. I cut the panel with the adhesive on top.
I peeled off the adhesive and liberally sprinkled the evergreen with Taylored Expressions Gingerbread Lane Sequins. There are lots of options at this step. For example, you could die cut white cardstock for a "snow-covered" tree as the base or you could cover the tree with different sequins or glitter.
To the tree top, I added a star, cut from Chickaniddy Silver Surfer Foil Paper with the star die included in the Taylored Expressions Little Bits Christmas Tree set.
To create the packages, I cut both a small piece of Bazzill Easter Grass cardstock and a sheet of patterned paper from the Taylored Expressions 6x6 Gingerbread Lane Paper Pack with the Taylored Expressions Little Bits Present die set. I combined a green bow with a polka-dot package and vice versa. Because the die cuts holes in the packages, I adhered a small piece of white cardstock to the back.
For the background, I stamped the string of lights from the Taylored Expressions Share the Light set in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed the with Ranger Super Fine Silver Embossing Powder. I stamped the string of lights two more times to fill the top part of the tag with some shine.
I wanted to include depth on the tag for visual interest. I applied a strip of High Tack 1/4 Double-Sided Foam Mounting Tape to the white cardstock snowbank that would be at the bottom of the tag. I added a square of Tombow Adhesive Tabs to the evergreen tree. The other snowbank was adhered directly to the Bazzill Candy Pearls Cardstock tag.
I added Tombow Adhesive Tabs to the packages as well, positioning them on either side of the tree.
While I often finish tags with twine, this design needed some volume at the top. I first considered something metallic to tie in with the other silver-toned accents, so I custom-dyed Tim Holtz Crinkle Ribbon with Ranger Distress Brushed Pewter Spray Stain.
While I liked the results, and will use the ribbon on another project, I ultimately decided to use Tim Holtz Crinkle Ribbon custom-dyed with Festive Berries Distress Stain. For a final metallic touch, I added two Darice Silver Bells.
