Welcome to Day 5 of the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2014! I'm Julia Stainton and am excited to be back for yet another year of Ellen's fabulous tag event. This is my fifth year and each year I look forward to creating for it so very much! What a wonderful holiday tradition!
Today I'm so excited to share the tag I've created for the 2014 tag event. It's an idea that's been whirling around in my head. There were quite a few actually but this one won out and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Years ago I created a little sled accent from a mini tag. It came to mind and this is a fun twist on it, making a sled tag from a full-sized tag. It can be used as a gift tag but it's also sweet enough to hang on the tree as an ornament! To decorate my sled, I've used some of my favorite new holiday dies from the Essentials by Ellen line. I adore them and just can't get enough of using them!
Tag Sled Instructions:
- Stencil a Kraft #5 tag with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the Tim Holtz Woodgrain stencil. Sponge edges of tag with ink.
- Draw four lines vertically down tag using the Tim Holtz Ruler to evenly space them out. Use a pencil to make sure they are where you want them, then go over the lines with a Copic Multiliner.
- Using a light brown Copic Sketch Marker (I used ) go over the black lines with a wider line using the brush end of the marker. This creates some subtle shading on each side of the thin black link for depth.
- Using a score board, score each of the black lines to add even more depth and realism to the tag sled.
- Cut 2 sled runners from pink cardstock. Each strip is 6" x 1/2". Round front of sled runners with circle punch. Slide just the tip into the punch and punch the curve.
- Turn Kraft tag over and adhere 3D Foam Adhesive Squares to reverse side of tag. Adhere pink cardstock sled runners over foam squares.
- Die cut two laurel wreaths from Easter Green cardstock. Adhere to tag from in layers with foam adhesive.
- Die cut stag die from gold glitter cardstock. Adhere with foam adhesive.
- Die cut joy sentiment from pink cardstock and adhere with liquid adhesive.
- Adhere embellishments to top of wreath.
- Tie twine into bow and adhere.
- Apply dots of Flamingo Liquid Pearls on wreath to make berries.
- Curve up top of sled runners by lightly rolling top of cardstock around the Copic Multiliner.
- Add little dots of "snow" to tag with white gel pen.
- Loop twine through top of tag to hang it.
To give this tag its feminine touch, I've used a bright pink and green color combo to accent the sled. Simply change it up to a dark red and green for a more masculine look.
Thanks so much for joining me today in the CLASSroom! Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and holiday season! Good luck!
