Fall is my absolute favorite time of year -- I love all kinds of leaf/botanical images and the deep, rich colors of the season are amazing this time of year! So I thought I would try rolling all of Fall's splendor into a shaker card and this is what I came up with:
I just wish my camera would have captured the true colors of this gorgeous Bazzill Red Hots cardstock I used for the tag. I think the Delicata Gold ink gave off a glow under my studio lighting that cast an orange-y undertone to the red. At any rate, here are the details:
I loved the idea of creating a leaf shape to be the shaker opening in a tag, so I die cut My Favorite Things Fall Leaves and largest Pierced Traditional Tag STAX together in my Big Shot. The tag was a little longer than I wanted for my card front (but the width I wanted), so I shortened the top of the tag by running it back through my die cutting machine again:
Next, I stamped the front of the tag with the script block from My Favorite Things Thankful Leaves stamp set, in Tsukineko's beautiful Delicata Gold ink. Then I trimmed the top right and bottom left of the tag with two strips of Little B Thin Gold Stripes 3mm Tape. This was another element that just didn't photograph very well on this card, unfortunately! The camera picks up the "transparent" part of the tape and just doesn't show the pretty gold stripe very well -- it's very pretty in person!
A piece of Peanut Fudge (chocolate) Bazzill cardstock was die cut with the jagged/washi tape die from Blueprints 13 and a beautiful script sentiment from the Thankful Leaves stamp set was heat embossed on it in Ranger Super Fine Gold Embossing Powder.
To create the shaker element, I cut a scrap piece of acetate packaging to fit the size of the leaf opening, turned the tag over and placed the acetate over the opening. Then I cut pieces of X-Press It 1/4-in Foam Mounting Tape to do double duty -- it holds the acetate in place (by placing the tape half way on the acetate and half way onto the cardstock) AND creates the barrier to keep the shaker material contained. Just be sure all edges of the tape are touching and there are no gaps where the shaker material can escape:
Next, I filled the shaker with two different colors of Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Cupped Sequins: Sand and Gold:
Next, I prepared the card base by die cutting Neenah Desert Storm with the large stitched rectangle from MFT's Blueprints 13 Die-namics and splattered it with Ranger's Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist, by taking the spray nozzle out of the bottle and tapping it against my finger:
EDITED TO ADD: How do you adhere the tag shaker element to the card? I usually do it this way -- Just place another piece of acetate over the shaker material and foam tape while it's still laying flat on my work surface. This will allow you to adjust the shaker material a little easier, if needed (add or take away some), before the shaker element is adhered to the card. But this time, I just removed the foam tape liner and held the shaker tag flat while bringing it and the card front up over my head, so I could see where to place the tag onto the cardfront!
To finish the card, I mounted the splattered Desert Storm panel to a top-folded card base made of Bazzill Butter Mints (such a gorgeous shade of cream!). To create the reinforcer for the tag, I swiped Desert Storm cardstock with the Delicata Gold ink, let it dry, then punched out a 1/4-inch circle, then used 1/2-inch circle around the 1/4-inch and adhered it to the tag. Lawn Fawn Gold Sparkle Hemp Cord was tied through the hole, into a bow:
I hope you'll have fun playing around with some different shapes to create one-of-a-kind shaker cards, too! ~ Sharon
