I have a confession. I live in Seattle and I don't own an umbrella. It's not that I don't like umbrellas (because they are fantastic) but I had one I loved and I think I finally lost it, or maybe it broke, I don't recall exactly. Either way, the pink and white polka dot umbrella is no longer with me and I've just never gotten around to replacing it. Now if I saw a bright and cheery umbrella like this, I'd definitely buy it!
To create my umbrella, first I had to create my own watercolor background.
I simply watercolored each color onto a piece of my favorite Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock and let it dry. It's SO hard to not rush the drying process but gosh is it worth it.
I stamped the umbrella topper from the Avery Elle Weather It set. I love how this set is really designed so you can build your own umbrella.
Then, I laid my die cut right on top and sent it through my die cutting machine.
Here it is once it's cut out.
Then, I added the umbrella lines to the inside of the umbrella. You could easily fit a sentiment in this spot if you didn't want the lines. I missed the picture where I stamped the handle, so I stamped the handle too.
Next up, the card front. Here I've stamped the sentiment (also from Avery Elle's Weather It) and to add a fancy curve so I used the new Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders die. I love my magnetic platform for holding my die perfectly in place as I run it through my Vagabond.
Here's how it looks once I secure it to my cardstock.
Then I secured the umbrella to the card front.
I thought it would be very fun to add some of my absolute favorite Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins to the card front at an angle trickling down the card.
Then I decided to add some black splatter. To do this, I simply used my waterbrush and watercolors and flicked the brush to create droplets onto the card. This is so much easier than buying every shade of spritzer! I simply laid a die cut to the top of my card so the splatter wouldn't get on top of my umbrella!
Here's how it looks when it's all said and done! Bright and cheery and I really want an umbrella like this!
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing part of your day with me! I hope you have a great one!
