Good Wednesday morning and welcome to the CLASSroom. If you are like me you find it a little more difficult to come up with masculine card ideas. I love the Happy Camper set and I thought pairing it with the Campy Tree Lines and Deer Trio would make a perfect guy card. I couldn’t resist adding a few tiny white flowers and soft yellow butterflies to soften up all that green and blue. The camper, sky and tree lines were all cut using coordinating paper from the Avery Elle Sorbet Collection.
I started by assembling the camper. I attached all the pieces with glossy accents. I wanted the camper door to be popped open so I attached it with a piece of L shaped cardstock.
Apply glossy accents to one side of the L shape and attach it to the back of the door with the scored fold on the left edge.
Apply glossy accent to the back side of the L shape fold and attach it to the camper base.
Cut three tree line sections and four tall grass sections and cut to fit the width of your card base. Apply adhesive to the back of each tree line and attach over the top of a grass section.
Apply adhesive to the back of each tree section along the bottom edge and a few pieces of mounting tape to the back top edge. Attach the top section first and then follow with the second.
Cut the center portion of the third grass section to use on the third tree line. The camper will cover the cut out area so no use wasting those sprigs of grass.
Apply adhesive along the back bottom of the camper and several sections of doubled up pieces of mounting tape to the upper part of the camper and attach to the card base. Attaching the bottom section of the camper flat to the card base will allow the last tree line section to fit more smoothly. The top portion of the camper will be popped out and will add dimension.
Cut several of the center grass sprigs on the bottom tree line section shorter to allow the camper door to be popped open. Apply wide double sections of mounting tape to the bottom tree line and attach in front of the camper.
Attach the Puffy Clouds and the Sun to the sky area with rolled glue dots and mounting tape. Using both adhesives create different levels for the sun and clouds.
Apply brown ink to the deer with a mini applicator.
Tuck the deer in behind the grass and trees and attach with mounting tape.
Form the Tiny Flowers and Leafy Branch sections using a stylus and molding pad and attach the flowers to the leaves with glossy accents. Cut the branch sections apart. Note: when I finally started adding the flower sections I decided “less is more” since it is supposed to be a “guy card”.
Tuck the flowers in behind the tree line and attach with glossy accents. Add a few yellow butterflies from the Butterfly Delights set for the finishing touch.
I knew this was going to be a busy card so I tried to create calmness by using on a few colors. The sky and camper were made using the same blue paper. The white of the clouds were repeated in the tiny window curtains and flowers. The yellow sun was repeated with the tiny yellow butterflies.
I hope you have enjoyed today’s masculine campy tutorial. It would be a perfect card for any man or boy who loves the outdoors, camping and wildlife.
Thanks for stopping by and I will see you next time.
