I went to a wedding this past weekend of the son of one of my husband's co-workers to the daughter of another co-worker. :) It's a sweet story of the two beginning to date his senior year and her junior year of high school and 8 years later, degrees completed and wonderful careers launched, they were ready to "tie the knot"... :)
This card spoke to both of their personalities--she is soft-spoken and gentle; he is a charmer and a character!
Y'all know what a fan I am of the single-layer card, but I also wanted the card to have a bit of that "luxe" aura about it so I chose to do everything with my favorite smooth bristol, knowing it was slightly off-white hue, nicely thick and plush to also use as the card base, and would accept a light-handed watercolor wash.
Milo's ABC's was also the perfect size alpha set and also all caps, which was what I needed to pull off the layout I was going for. I happened to use the 1" size heart die from a set by Lawn Fawn, and part of the charm of that particular set of dies is their wider style/shape--love that about them! But there are a number of heart die sets out there that would also work for this.
Initially, the focal point seemed lacking, so I added a few tiny heart sprinkles with Delicata Golden Glitz ink to set it off
The twine used is one of my favorite go-to twines of all time. It's a natural burlap color--I love that it's a little rustic but not overly fiberous, which means it's neutral and versatile enough to use on almost every style of card I make. Yes, I do happen to buy it by the roll; I use gobs of it!
I hand-wrote my sentiment on the inside with a Uniball gold gel pen--I was in a hurry to get out the door to the wedding on time! "Congratulations on finally tying the knot!"
